Default Are Christians expected to sin?

Dear friends I'd like to comment on the following verses.
1 John :3:8 He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil.

3:9 Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God.

Here is what we learned in Bible school about these verses. The Greek term is more of a shooting for the mark. In other words Christians should have their spititual bows tuned and expecting to hit the center bull's eye. That is the attitude of the true believer. So sad to say but many seem to shoot with their eyes closed and no fletching on their arrows. I'm a visual person and have been using this as an aid. When I'm doing things I remind myself are you aiming for the bull's eye with a ready tuned bow for the Lord. Are my my sights lined up with His will. If not. You may need to repent and tune your bow.
God bless,
Chuck

I like the way you put that Chuck and I agree with you in relation to the sincere christian. However for the luke warm that are comfortable with a little sin in their life, or for anyone who willfully or habitually and characteristically sins, this scripture speaks to those also as being from the devil. We belong to whoever has control over our hearts.l

Leaf,
Very powerful words there brother. And according to 1 John you are right. It causes me to want to walk through life tuned and with both eyes open.
1 Corinthians
9:26 I therefore so run, not as uncertainly; so fight I, not as one that beateth the air:

9:27 But I keep under my body, and bring it into subjection: lest that by any means, when I have preached to others, I myself should be a castaway.
1 Peter1:15 But as he which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation; 1:16 Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy.
Keep those bows in tune brothers in everything you do. I will do the same. Hopefully we can all be accounted for in Heavem,
Chuck

Matt 6:24 Tells us that no man can serve two masters.
John 8:4 Says, "Whosoever committeth sin is the servant of sin.
John 8:12 he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness,

God doesn't expect the born again believer to sin a little every day. When one is born again, he becomes a new creature in Christ Jesus. One is given power over all the works of the adversary. Ye shall receive power after the Holy Ghost is come upon you. Power to live an overcoming life through theHoly Ghostgiven by the one who hathcalled us to glory and virtue. He that is born of God doeth not committ sin for his seed remaineth in him. Jesus came to destroy the works of the devil. In him, (Jesus) is no sin, therefore if we are in him, we must also be without sin. Gal 5:6 Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh.
God does not want us to sin! God does not expect us to sin! God made a way so that we don't have to sin!
BUT God knowing all things, knew that there would be times of weakness an that we as mere men would fail and thatsin would gain an upper hand in our lives. 1 John 2:1 My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous: V:2 And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but for the whole world.
Sin is never condoned by God, but God trieth the heart. If one sins in a moment of weakness, a prayer of repentance will restore one to the fold. However if one sins and continues to walk in sin without repenting, he is in danger of the judgement.
David committed many sins, yet was called a man after God's own heart. Why? He was a man that acknowledged his sin and was quick to repent and turn back to God. He wasn't a man to blame others for what he had done, he took the responsibility for his failures.
The key to a sucessful walk with God, is to have an altar in our lives.
Sampson was a great man but he never built an alter! Don't trust in your strength to make it to glory, keep your altar in good repair and use it often.

Snooky,
Very nice. The good news is that this man who you are describing...is truly the man or women who loves God. Also this man or women is enjoying freedom beyond words. Yes ,you are right , God does not expect us to sin. When I shoot my bow I expect to hit somewhere close to the center of the target. His Spirit helps me. Just as He has used Taz , Dave and a new friend of mine Mark to help me hit the bull's eye ,God has given us His Holy Spirit and Word to live in the bull's eye of righteousness. The Holy Spirit in our lives is to make us holy.
Chuck
PS The reason why I posted this is because I feel that there could be brothers here tha tare missing out on abundant life because of false doctrine. The false doctrine.....That God expects you to sin. That is a horrible doctrine. I believe sin in a Christian's life is the exception not the rule. Why am I saying all this.....because Christ Jesus desires for you to have abundant life.
Check out these verses.
Ephesians 4:
4:17 This I say therefore, and testify in the Lord, that ye henceforth walk not as other Gentiles walk, in the vanity of their mind,

4:18 Having the understanding darkened, being alienated from the life of God through the ignorance that is in them, because of the blindness of their heart:

4:19 Who being past feeling have given themselves over unto lasciviousness, to work all uncleanness with greediness.

4:20 But ye have not so learned Christ
I 'm speaking from experience. Secret sins separates you from the "life of God." verse 18.

As a friend I'm writing these things things so that you may experience life.
Your brother,
Chuck

if knowing is expecting...then yes..God does.
being sinless makes you perfect, which YOU can't be... the Christ in you IS, but NOT you....how "perfect" you "are" is totally dependant upon how much Christ is "in" you.......
you WILL sin...God knows it, knew about it before it happened....

Brian,
"being sinless makes you perfect, which YOU can't be" spoken by Brian { Remington } So Brian....what should be the attit5ude of the believer towards sin..

A. God made me weak and understands my weaknesses and when I confess to Him He will faithfully forgive me.

B. I'm only as strong as God is in me. If I'm weak there must be only a small portion of God in me.

C. I sin because it gives me immediate joy and pleasure. I know the scriptures good enough that those who do such things will not inherit the Kingdom of God. Since I've been struggling with this issue for years I may want to confide in a brother and get help.

D. Those who live a life where sin is the exception and not the rule have found their plessure in the Lord. They despise sin and like Job have made a covenant with their eyes. These people exist I have met them. They are rare but they do exist. I am striving to be one of those as well.
Brian, run to Jesus brother.....He is your answer.
The reason for the post is that one day I will have to give account of the things I have posted. I want to make it clear on what I believe . I believe what we are speaking about is the deadiest false doctrine.in the church today. One that is not so much preached but rather demonstrated by church leaders .That it is ok to be a worldly Christian. That is a big fat lie. We are supposed to be in the world but not of it.
Brother Chuck

Because God knows a thing will happen, doesn't mean that he expectsman to make sure that it happens. Because mercy and forgiveness it availible to the sinner is no excuse for one to indulge in sin wilfully. To sin just to see if God will forgive, will lead to a reprobate mind that believes a lie and will be damned. The bible teaches, that forgetting those things that are behind, let us go on unto perfection. Did not Jesus say to "be ye perfect even as your Father which is in Heaven is perfect"? Does God get up every morning looking for a way to sin, expecting to sin, yeilding to every temptation with out a fight? Does not the bible teach to resist the devil and he will flee from you? Doesn't the scripture teach that greater is he that is in you than he that is in the world? Doesn't it say that this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith? It is time for for the believer to stand tall as Joshua did when the angel of God came unto him, He took the angel by the beard and demanded to know "whose side are you on"? Let the devil know that God is on our side and if he wants a fight, we are ready to resist. I am not serving a defeated God! My God has never lost a battle and he never will! I am his chosen posession! I have been bought with a price! I am now a citizen of Heaven! I am no longer under bondage to the weak and beggerly elements of this world. I have been washed in the blood of the Lamb! I have received power after the Holy Ghost has came! As you can surely tell this AM, I have my sleeves rolled up- the line is drawn in the sand-the Lord is my strength-if the devil wants to go another round, let him bring it on. Victory-Victory shall be mine

Snooky,
My feelings exactly. On the other hand. If there is a struggling brother out there please feel free to PM me or e-mail. Together through prayer and daily communication I believe the Lord will help. That is what I needed and...it worked.
