Default John 10: 1-6 Christ ...Our Shepherd

Greeting and salutations with a holy kiss

Short and sweet this morning fellows.

Chapter 10

10:1 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that entereth not by the door into the sheepfold, but climbeth up some other way, the same is a thief and a robber. Jesus is the shepherd who goes through the door. The sheep fold representing the church. All the others, talking about the Pharisees here have been robbers keeping them from Christ / thus keeping them from life.

10:2 But he that entereth in by the door is the shepherd of the sheep. That would be Jesus. He is the shepherd of our souls.

10:3 To him the porter openeth; and the sheep hear his voice: and he calleth his own sheep by name, and leadeth them out. The porter may represent God here who has ushered Christ into the sheepfold. "Ansd the sheep hear His voice." In America we drive sheep but in the middle east they lead them. They say a shepherd can call each one by name. And Jesus calls us by name and He leads us. Romans 8:14 For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.

10:4 And when he putteth forth his own sheep, he goeth before them, and the sheep follow him: for they know his voice. Good news. Christ goes before us. He is our shepherd so we need not fear.
Psalm: 23:1 The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want.
23:2 He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters.
23:3 He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake.
23:4 Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.
23:5 Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.
23:6 Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the LORD for ever.
HE WILL TAKE CARE OF US.

10:5 And a stranger will they not follow, but will flee from him: for they know not the voice of strangers. AMEN""I also do not follow strangers. I also flee from them.

10:6 This parable spake Jesus unto them: but they understood not what things they were which he spake unto them. Why did they not understand? Because the things of God are spiritual and are foolishness to the natural man.
1 Corinthians 2:14 But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.

Remember..you are not the shepherd of your life ..Jesus is .Tune thine ear to His voice and take comfort that He is ALL you need. Now the God of peace, that brought again from the dead our Lord Jesus, that great shepherd of the sheep, through the blood of the everlasting covenant, Make you perfect in every good work to do his will, working in you that which is wellpleasing in his sight, through Jesus Christ; to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen.

Love Chuck
PS Technical question for Taz, Taz..everyday I type the letters of Christ in red. When I copy and paste to the post on Hunting .Net the red goes away. One time it stayed. What must I do to keep the red on.? I would love to color code the study to help keep the reader focused. Any ideas?
Thanks,
Chuck

Brother Chuck first of all fantastic lesson this morning, you brought out an interesting point about how in the middle east shepards lead their flock and call them by name, having lived in Turkey for 2 1/2 years I have seen this, and the sheep of the flock do follow the shepard as we should follow our shepard.

Okay now for the tech question, all you have to do is after you paste your text, highlight the text you want to be red then go to the "A" in the Toolbar and click on it, you will get a pallette of colors, click on the color you want the text to be and will change the highlighted text.

I got up in a rush this morning and did'nt read any verses from the bible. This was my morning read today. Good one Chuck I had a favorite uncle that when he was in his last minutes of life in the hospital , recited 10:3-4. He was saved late in life and I believe in those last minutes he was actually hearing His voice. Long story.

Bro Chuck; Just a little local history history that you may or may not know. Rebel Hog may remember this also. I was born and raised in Florida, in a time when Florida was the second leading state in beef cattle production. My family ran cattle and hogs on the open range until the range was closed about 50 years ago. My first job after getting out of the air force was as a rider for the Flying S Ranch in Dunnellon. Remember the old cowboy song, "cattle call"? A rider would get in front of the herd and use a singing call to lead the herd. Out riders would only circle the rogues back to the herd and push the old lazy bulls along at a faster pace. These were wild, range cows that were only rounded up twice each year, yet they would follow the call of the cowboy. So much for that.

Jesus sheep know his voice!! One needs to be on talking terms with him!! He that hath an ear, let him hear what the spirit saith to the churches. Must be spiritually in tune with God.

Snooky, I remember very well (Cracker Cows). The highways had
signs Cattle Crossings. You are so right about leading them with
song. You bring back many memories Bro.Snooky.
You could tell the Cracker Cows from any other cattle breeds by
thier wide long thin horns and hip bones. I use to go to the Cow Palace
in Lakeland to pick-up a few. They can eat-up a patch of palmettos
in no time. Good Ole Times!

Rebel; I don't remember this, not quite old enough, but during the Civil War there was a "Cracker Calvery". One of their jobs was to move cattle to the soldiers as a food source.

Unless you have an old version of I.E. It won't let you highlight like that.
