Default John 8:51-59 Jesus ....The Great I Am

Good Morning Friends,
8:51 Verily, verily, I say unto you, If a man keep my saying, he shall never see death.
Or truly , truly. If any man or women continues ,abides in my Word , he /she will not be touched by the second death. This death here wil only be temporary because he/she will be resurrected and will live forever.

8:52 Then said the Jews unto him, Now we know that thou hast a devil. Abraham is dead, and the prophets; and thou sayest, If a man keep my saying, he shall never taste of death. Because of what Jesus said in verse 51 to the jews it only proves that Jesus is a mad man. They considered Abraham great and he died so therefore Jesus must be wrong.

8:53 Art thou greater than our father Abraham, which is dead? and the prophets are dead: whom makest thou thyself? They are saying who do you think you are. They considered the three patriarchs of great value as did the Samaritan women in John 4:12 Art thou greater than our father Jacob, which gave us the well, and drank thereof himself, and his children, and his cattle?

8:54 Jesus answered, If I honour myself, my honour is nothing: it is my Father that honoureth me; of whom ye say, that he is your God: God has honored Christ already in this book. The dove flew on Him to let John know that this was the Son of God, the miracles testified that God was with Him, and on the mount of transfiguration God spoke out loud saying, This is my beloved Son, hear ye Him." And after the resurrection Christ sits beside the Father. "œ Of whom ye say ,that He is your God." Scary thought"¦.Matthew7:21 Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.

8:55 Yet ye have not known him; but I know him: and if I should say, I know him not, I shall be a liar like unto you: but I know him, and keep his saying. "œ and keep His Word" They that know Him keep His Word.

8:56 Your father Abraham rejoiced to see my day: and he saw it, and was glad. How did Abraham see Christ? Possibly on 2 different occasions. Once, when Abraham was visited by 3 strangers.
1"¦.. Genesis 18:1 And the LORD appeared unto him in the plains of Mamre: and he sat in the tent door in the heat of the day;
18:2 And he lift up his eyes and looked, and, lo, three men stood by him: and when he saw them, he ran to meet them from the tent door, and bowed himself toward the ground,
18:3 And said, My LORD, if now I have found favour in thy sight, pass not away, I pray thee, from thy servant:

2"¦.Hebrews 7:9 And as I may so say, Levi also, who receiveth tithes, payed tithes in Abraham.
7:10 For he was yet in the loins of his father, when Melchisedec met him.
7:17 For he testifieth, Thou art a priest for ever after the order of Melchisedec

8:57 Then said the Jews unto him, Thou art not yet fifty years old, and hast thou seen Abraham? I understand the number fifty was an interesting figure for the jews to come up wth,"¦ "œFifty, is often spoken of by the Jews, and much observed; at the age of fifty, a man is fit to give counsel, they say; hence the Levites were dismissed from service at that age, it being more proper for them then to give advice, than to bear burdens."

8:58 Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Before Abraham was, I am. I Am being one of the names of God. . Jesus straight forwardly is telling them tha the reason was that He saw Abraham was because He is God.
3:14 And God said unto Moses, I AM THAT I AM: and he said, Thus shalt thou say unto the children of Israel, I AM hath sent me unto you.

8:59 Then took they up stones to cast at him: but Jesus hid himself, and went out of the temple, going through the midst of them, and so passed by. Jesus did not actually hide but as he did in the previous chapter walked miraculous past them not seen. Truly as Jesus had said earlier"¦.they prove themselves to be the children of the devil by their murderous hearts.

In conclusion"¦.we too shall miss the second death if we believe on the Lord Jesus Christ. Let us see our need to sincerely walk upright to be a light in our dark world. The world has gotten extremely evil; at least in my neck of the nation. Lord God, please give us the wisdom and love of Christ we need for today.

Brother Chuck
