Default John 8:35-36 Are we serving God or Sin?

Good Morning Friends,
Please put your seat belts on this morning and hang on.
John 8:35 And the servant abideth not in the house for ever: but the Son abideth ever. Yesterday we looked at the verse about being a servant of sin. I made the remark"Will you still go to Heaven? According to this verse NO servants of sin cannot go to Heaven. There s a difference between slipping and serving. A servant is owned by sin. He has no control in his life. He is a slave to his worldly desires.
One of the suttle attacks today friend is compromise. Many Christians strive to stattle the fence. They want the best of both worlds. However; Jesus made it clear by saying .."YOU can"t serve two masters." You will love one and hate the other. But the Son abideth in the House of God along with His children. Who are His family? He once quoted. They are those who do the will of the Father. Again from yesterday, we are all serving either sin or righteousness.

8:36 If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed.
Free from what? The law of sin and death.
:.
Romans8:2 For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death. What is the law of the Spirit of Life in Christ Jesus. Simple"Walking in the love of the Lord and taking up your cross daily and crucifying your flesh. IF you are doing that you are free from the law of sin and death.

Romans 6:14 For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace.
6:15 What then? shall we sin, because we are not under the law, but under grace? God forbid.
6:16 Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of SIN UNTO DEATH, or of OBEDIENCE UNTO RIGHTEOUSNESS? We have to choose to serve sin or righteousness.

1 John3:7 Little children, let no man deceive you: he that doeth righteousness is righteous, even as he is righteous.
3:8 He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil.
3:9 Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God.
3:10 In this the children of God are manifest, and the children of the devil: whosoever doeth not righteousness is not of God, neither he that loveth not his brother.

So according to John 8 : 31 Being a disciple is conditional to whether if we continue to abide in Him and serve righteousness.

John 8:31 b."If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed;"

Folks, That tells me we need to order our lives accordingly. We need to have a game plan. There are certain places I don"t go. Love truly has to be the law of our heart . That"s not it alone, but that helps with the attitude problems. It is such a job dealing with this old man that I must crucify him daily. I sincerely believe though that the power to love an d to crucify comes from the Holy Spirit that He has given us. So our strenghth is in Him as we "continue in His Word."

Have a wonderful weekend.
Brother Chuck

Very well spoken Brother. This passage makes it plain that God's will is that we cease to "sin a little every day", and serve him alone. True, there is a big difference in slipping and serving, but some try to serve under the pretense of only slipping. Now God commandeth all men every where to repent. Thank God for mercy and truth.

Amen Snooky,

I think when we get to John 10 we will get alot more clarification on the keeping power of God and chapter 17. I want to hit this with an open heart and learn myself. Snooky ,I appreciate you taking the time and kindness to reply.
