Jn. 8 :31-34 IF ,we stay in His Word, then we are HIs disciples.
Goose, I did not see a Bible study so I took the liberty. I sure hope it doesn"™t offend you
8:31 Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed; WOW some of those guys resisted the peer pressure and believed. So Jesus was talking to believers here like you and me. He makes a promice here with a condition. IF you continue { men-o} abide, dwell, endure, remain, stand. IN MY WORD ,THEN are ye MY disciples INDEED. Not maybe "¦but indeed.
8:32 And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free. And through that abiding ,enduring in the Word YOU SHALL KNOW { gin os ko }to be resolved, understand ,be sure of} the truth, and the truth shall make you free. { el yoo ther os} to liberate, to be exempt,to deliver} As a new Christian I had gotten saved from quite an emotional experience. Quickly the feelings wore off. I sincerely said God ,what must I do to feel saved and not backslide. The Lord said in my heart, "Stay in the Word."ť I carried my Bible everywhere ,and I mean everywhere . I was able to lead a couple of others to Christ by them simply seeing me read it. It opened up lots of doors as they seen me unashamed quietly reading my Bible. This John 8:31 was one of my premiere verses as a new Christian. 1 Peter 2:2 says,"As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby.
8:33They answered him, We be Abraham's seed, and were never in bondage to any man: how sayest thou, Ye shall be made free. These new believers needed clarification and Jesus gives it in the next verse.given more time I would have expouded on "We be Abraham's seed." That is an important concept. I know in Israel they take GREAT PRIDE in knowing they were born a jew.
8:34 Jesus answered them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whosoever committeth sin is the servant of sin. Wake up call!! Born a jew or not everyone has to deal with the sin issue. You must be a servant to either righteousness or sin. If you are a practicing sinner ,than you are a servant of sin. Are you still saved? God only knows. One thing for sure"¦Professing Christians who are serving sin are living a miserable life. I know from experience. It"™s the worst life there is. Serving righteousness is rewarding work . We are made righteous by not only confessing Christ as Lord and Savior BUT by continuing , dwelling, enduring , remaining and standing in His Word.
Romans6:16 Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness?

Good verses Chuck. Anybody that stays in the word will be changed. It would be impossible to dwell in God's word daily and not be changed. Even those that just read the bible for a period of time out of curiosity are affected. If one is seeking, he will find. If one has found, he will grow. Even folk that read the bible to try to find errors are affected. Sometimes you will hear from someone that is an unbeliever that has read the bible. They will often comment on how cruel or seemingly unjust God is . . .they have been affected.

Isaiah55:11 So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.
Thanks for replying.
