21Then Jesus said to them again, "I am going away, and you will seek Me, and will die in your sin. Where I go you cannot come."
22So the Jews said, "Will He kill Himself, because He says, "Where I go you cannot come'?" This is an important point! The "Lost" or the people who live and die "in sin" separated from God, will not have any hope of heaven. Jesus said they "can not come" In 2 Thessalonians 1:7-9 it says,
"7and to give you who are troubled rest with us when the Lord Jesus is revealed from heaven with His mighty angels, 8in flaming fire taking vengeance on those who do not know God, and on those who do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ. 9These shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord and from the glory of His power," Jesus won't be returning to make exceptions or to change the truth for any one. He is no respector of persons, and expects all people to accept the truth and repent,2 Peter 3:9 says,
"9The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some count slackness, but is longsuffering toward us,[a] not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance.
23And He said to them, "You are from beneath; I am from above. You are of this world; I am not of this world. 24Therefore I said to you that you will die in your sins; The oppisite of dying "in sin" is to die "in Christ" it is only"in Christ" that we find any spiritual blessings! (Ephesians 1:3)
for if you do not believe that I am He, you will die in your sins." Jesus is the Promised One, the Lamb of God, the Messiah, the Christ!!!
25Then they said to Him, "Who are You?"
And Jesus said to them, "Just what I have been saying to you from the beginning. 26I have many things to say and to judge concerning you, but He who sent Me is true; and I speak to the world those things which I heard from Him."
27They did not understand that He spoke to them of the Father.
28Then Jesus said to them, "When you lift up the Son of Man, then you will know that I am He, (I couldn't help but think of the centurion at the foot of the cross, he said "truly this man was the Son of God!")
and that I do nothing of Myself; but as My Father taught Me, I speak these things. 29And He who sent Me is with Me. The Father has not left Me alone, for I always do those things that please Him." 30As He spoke these words, many believed in Him. Even while He is surrounded by those who DO NOT believe, there are some here that do believe! That seed fell on the "good soil" and took root! Jesus is really teaching boldly here and we should take note the offensive manner with which He addresses these un-believers, the truth must be spoken in love, but it cannot be "watered-down" or so soft that it has no effect! Jesus is blunt. And some there needed that bluntness, cause they then believed! Praise God!
