I have hunted my home state of NH for many, many years. I am usually hunting with one of three sons or one of my hunting buddies or both. A few years back, I was hunting alone during a snow storm. My hunting alone was the exception, not the rule.
While driving to the hunting area, which is about a mile in the woods, I was thinking of my Dad a lot that day. You have to understand, he is the one that was responsible for me becoming a deer hunter and subsequently my three sons and two grandsons. He was my Best Friend. My Dad passed away many years ago and in fact was a 100% DAV, double amputee. Before entering the woods, I decided to take his .250 Savage that I inherited from him. I remember thinking, I was holding the rifle in the same place he did, my fingers embrased the same stock his did. It was simply a good, wonderful feeling.
After walking this logging road for about 15 minutes, I came to a turn in the road. There I met a young man about 20 years old, standingoff to the side. He was dressed in full hunter orange and in fact was a very handsome young man with piercing eyes. We chated briefly for about a minute and he told me was waiting for someone and he wished me luck. I thanked him and wished him the same as I again began my walk to my stand in a snow storm.
After walking about a minute, something didn't seem right. This hunter was dressed in orange but not a stain was on his clothes, he was absolutely spotless. Something made me turn and go back to this young hunter. When a rounded a bend where he was standing just a minute ago, he was gone. There was no one there. Not only that, but there was no evidence that he was ever there. It was still snowing, but the only tracks in the snow were from my boots made minutes earlier. I could see where I walked to the side of the logging road and stopped to talk to him. If I had no intention of stopping, my tracks would have stayed in the center of the snow filled road. The exact spot he was standing was filled with pure driven snow..., no tracks, no nothing. It was as if he never existed.
Of course, I instantly began to question myself. Did this really happen? Did I really talk to this young man? Did I turn back for a reason? All these answers were unquestionably, undeniably, yes, yes and yes.
I have mentioned this story to a select few and of course, no one has an answer. Some think it may have been Divine intervention. Some may think it never really happened, but I can assure you it honestly did.
My question...Has anything like this ever happened to you or anyone you know? Do you have any thoughts on why this kind of thing would have happened?
Thanks for taking the time to readthis and also for any/all replies.........Jimmy

Hey Jimmy,
I saw the Lord in 1976. I believe you saw the Lord.

PS Your question was why did this happen. I know why mine happened. To give me faith . Only you know why yours happened. But if that happened to me I would be thanking Him. I'm sure the friend He was waiting on was you. Also, if it never had happened to me I would of thought you were nuts. You aren't nuts.My experience came after I finished reading the New Testament. You are right about the eyes. Piercing and HOLY. When I saw HIm I hid my face in my sleeping bag. I looked again and He was still there. I was hoping He would look at me. When He did I hid my face again until morning. He is HOLY. I never saw HIm again. I'm living in such a way that I won't be ashamed the next time.

jimmy-i've never seen the Lord, but i heard Him talk to me once. either way, one thing i know-- you will never, ever forget the moment! cherish it, for it is precious. as chuck said-live so as to know that you wouldn't fear seeing Him again! may you be blessed, even more than you have been!

BIll,
thanks for the encouragement. I know our dicussion isn't the norm but it's like a cold glass of water running into folks with like experiences. For me it took that. I always figured there was a God out there somewhere...maybe but for me to live a Chritian life....no way. Every other word out of my mouth started with F. I lived for the gusto. Seeing Jesus put a damper on all of that. Knowing He was real was sobering. I still could not live the Christian life. I was VERY fortunate to see about 5 Christians demonstrate for me through their daily actions; what a real Christian looked like. That taught me much more than any Bible college. The best thing that we can do is the same thing....live it out daily. Believe me the world is watching.
