Default What is believing part 2

It' another great day here in the Snake River Plains. The mountians of nevada to the south, the Sawtooth Range to the north, mostly sunny skies and light winds, The handiwork of God is every where.

As you have seen in this study, I am not commenting much on the verses. Letting scripture interpret scripture. Letting you look up and read for yourself what the bible says. Today we want to see what the bible term, "The Gospel" means in light of the scripture.

What is The Gospel?

Matt 28:19-20 Jesus said "all power is given unto me"
He said to use a name, singular form.
He also said to observe ALL things he has commanded.

Mark 16:15-20 He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved, not he that believeth and is saved shall be baptized.

Luke 24:44-53 Jesus opened the understanding of the apostles so that they could understand the scripture. This removes any question about the authority of the apostles teaching being correct and in line with the word of God.
Jesus said that remission of sins would be preached in his name. He told where this preaching would have its starting point, beginning at Jerusalem.

Acts 1:4-8 + 15.Receive power after the Holy Ghost is come upon you. This confirms John 7:38-39.
Verse 15 tells the number of people waiting for this promise. Mary the mother of Jesus was among this number also.

Acts 2:1-21 They received the Holy Ghost. They spoke with tongues as the Spirit gave the utterance. Men out of every nation under heaven heard them speak in their own language. 17 languages listed.
What was this? Peter says that it was that spoken by the prophet Joel. Verses 17-21 are quotes from the book of Joel.

Acts 2:37-42 Commanded then to be baptized in Jesus Name for the remission of sins. (remember Luke 24:47)
The promise is to everbody that God calls. Why?? Remember John, "Ye must be born again".
They that received his word, (preaching the gospel) were baptized.
They continued in the apostles doctrine, (preaching of the gospel).

1 Peter 3:20-21 Baptism in Jesus Name was the birth of "water".
Baptism doeth now save us. Remember Luke 24, Jesus had opened their understanding to the scripture.

Acts 22:16 The conversion of Paul. Be baptized and wash away thy sins, calling on the name of the Lord. What is his name? The angels said, "call his name Jesus for he shall save his people from their sins"
Paul was saved by the same thing that Peter preached, The gospel.

Acts 9:5 + 17-18 Paul received the Holy Ghost as well as being baptized.

Acts 4:10-12 Must be in Jesus Name

Col 2:8-12 New Testament circumcision is baptism in Jesus Name for the remission of sins

Acts 8:5-24 People healed, joy, devils cast out, yet they didn't receive the Holy Ghost. They believed the preaching, (gospel) and were baptized.
Baptized how? In Jesus Name.
After baptism, they received The Holy Ghost. Simon tries to buy the power, shows that something outward and miraculous had happened.

Acts 8:35-40 Doesn't say what words Phillip said when he preached the Gospel but, the eunch asked to be baptized at the first water that they came to.

Acts 10:1-6 + 33 + 43-48 Here was a devote man, feared God, gave alms, prayed always, and yet wasn't saved.
Send for Peter he has the keys, a man called of God. Peter will preach the Gospel to you so you can be saved.
Verse 33 we are here to hear what is COMMANDED thee of God.
Verse 43-48 Received the Holy Ghost, were baptized in the Name of the Lord.

Acts 16:30-34 Told the jailer to believe on the lord, (what is believing? Beliving the gospel preached by the man sent of God). He preached the word of The Lord. He baptized him that night.

Acts 18:24-28 Apollos knew only the baptism of John but, accepted the rest of the truth when he heard it preached. We must have a teachable spirit.

Acts 19:1-6 These believed on the Lord and had been baptized in water. Paul preached the Gospel and they were rebaptized in Jesus Name. They then received the Holy Ghost and spoke in tongues. Ye must be born of water and the Spirit.

Tomorrow we will look at "the authority of the word."

Your right on 100% Bro Snooky. Even tho your telling me what I already know , it's amazing that no matter how many times you hear the truth, when it is preached it still gives you a thrill.
There I go with feelings again!!
