What is believing?

There seems to be a lot of finger pointing lately, with a lot of accusations concerning believing, and not believing. I think it would profit us all if we got our eyes off of those things which do not profit, and look back to the bible for a while. Instead of finding a way to send our brother to Hell, I think we would all profit by taking another look at where we stand with God and his word.

What is believing??

John 3:1-21 Verse 3-8 A person must be born of water and Spirit in order to be saved. Some say that this water is the natural birth. Others teach it means water baptism, but the scripture will teach us which is correct as we go on.
Verse 8 There is a sound when one is born of the Spirit.
verse 16 If we believe on Jesus we can be saved. The question is, "what is believing" according to the word of God?

John 7:38-39 We must believe on Jesus as the scripture has said. If we believe as the scripture has said, we should receive the Holy Ghost.

Romans 10:8-18 We must hear the word preached by a man sent of God, and we must believe what the man sent by God says. Remember that a man sent by God doesn't speak about God, he speaks FOR God.

Romans 1:16 The Gospel is the power of God unto salvation, to everyone that beleives it. Believes what? The gospel, the word preached.

I Cor. 1:21 God has chose that by the foolishness of preaching to save them that believe. Believe the gospel. Believe what is preached.

John 17:20 Jesus prayed for those that would believe on him through the words of the apostles. What they preached. The gospel.

Mark 1:15 Believe what? The gospel, not just believing that Jesus existed.

II Cor 4:1-5 If the gospel is hid, it is hid to those that are lost. What gospel? The one that Paul preached. There is only one gospel because he said "our" gospel.

Eph 1:3 The church at Ephesus was saved after they had heard the word of truth, the gospel, and had believed it. This confirms John 7:38-39 and Ro 1:16, The gospel of your salvation.

1 Thes 2:9-16 We must preach the gospel so we want be chargeable unto men. Verse 13 They received and believed the word of God, "gospel". Verse 16 They forbade Paul to SPEAK to the gentiles so that they could be saved. Showing that they must hear a preacher sent of God to be saved.

II Thes 1:7-10 The Lord will appear from heaven in flaming fire taking veneance on them that don't obey the gospel. Verse 10 paul said "Because our testimony was believed," lets us know that he was speaking of the gospel he preached.

I will post more scripture ref. tomorrow as the lesson is far from finished. These scriptures will give plenty of study for one day and will make tomorrows scriptures more meaningful.

Snooky great stuff, but what I quoted of yours jumped out at me, I pray it does others to.

Thanks Guys. These are notes from a study that I have been teaching at church the last month. I will post another set of scripture later in the day. It will take 4-5 parts to complete the lesson.
