Default America"s Inevitable Moral Implosion

America"s Inevitable Moral Implosion

by Dave Miller, Ph.D. and Brad Harrub, Ph.D.

The next domino has fallen. The first several fell when, from 1971 to 2001, over half of the fifty states eliminated their sodomy laws. The next fell on June 26, 2003, when the U.S. Supreme Court struck down all state sodomy laws in their infamous Lawrence v. Texas ruling. Cascading after that, the Supreme Court of Massachusetts declared the issuance of marriage licenses for same-sex couples to be constitutional. The first marriage licenses were issued to same-sex couples on May 17, 2004. Now, less than a year later, the state of New York is following suit. State court judge Doris Ling-Cohan has ruled that the New York City clerk may not deny marriage licenses to same-sex couples. Her rationale? "Under both the federal and New York State constitutions, it is beyond question that "the right to liberty" extends to protect marriage" ("Judge Nixes...," 2005, emp. added). She further insisted: "Similar to opposite-sex couples, same-sex couples are entitled to the same fundamental right to follow their hearts and publicly commit to a lifetime partnership with the person of their choosing" (as quoted in Kearney, 2005, emp. added). Any dominoes that remain will inevitably fall in March 2005, when a new video will be distributed to 61,000 schools across the nation"a video in which homosexual activists are using popular children"s television characters to urge tolerance and acceptance of the homosexual lifestyle. The inevitable moral implosion of America is happening right before our very eyes.

A pernicious plague of moral insanity is creeping insidiously through American civilization. Far more deadly than the external threat of terrorism, this domino effect will ultimately end in the moral implosion of America. Indeed, America is being held captive by moral and judicial terrorism. Those at the forefront of the attempt to coerce the country into altering its long-standing code of moral values are activist judges. Their tortured "interpretation" of constitutional law demonstrates that they have no respect for existing laws. Instead, they apparently see themselves as the appropriate architects of social change by usurping their constitutional role and legislating from the bench. They have placed themselves at odds with the history of Western civilization. With no regard for American legal history and the body of constitutional law that has remained largely intact from the beginning of the nation until the 1950s and 1960s, they essentially have swept away over 150 years of American judicial precedent with a flippant wave of the hand. They are literally restructuring the American moral landscape with an unflinching vengeance that is unmoved by the widespread national outrage to the contrary.

Even heathen kings from pagan civilizations in ancient history had more sense"and more respect for God"than these activist judges. Take, for example, Artaxerxes I, who ruled over the mighty Persian Empire in the fifth century B.C. In a letter directed to the Jewish scribe Ezra, the king instructed:

And you, Ezra, according to your God-given wisdom, set magistrates and judges who may judge all the people..., all such as know the laws of your God; and teach those who do not know them. Whoever will not observe the law of your God and the law of the king, let judgment be executed speedily on him, whether it be death, or banishment, or confiscation of goods, or imprisonment (Ezra 7:25-26, emp. added).
Artaxerxes insisted that judges be selected who knew the laws of God as well as the laws of the king.

Added to this assault on America"s justice system are years of covert work in the classroom. Homosexual activists have not only been trying to abdicate new laws, they also have been stealthily altering the message children are receiving about the home and family. Case in point: over 100 beloved children"s characters came together for an unprecedented recording on November 10, 2004 (see We are Family, 2004). This new video, titled "We are Family," will be distributed to public and private schools in an effort to promote tolerance. It features characters such as: "Arthur," "Barney," "Bear in the Big Blue House," "Between the Lions," "Blue"s Clues," "Bob the Builder," "The Book of Pooh," "Clifford the Big Red Dog," "Dora the Explorer," "Jimmy Neutron," "JoJo"s Circus," "Kim Possible," "Lilo & Stitch: The Series," "Little Mermaid," "Madeline," "The Magic School Bus," "The Muppet Show," "The Proud Family," "Rugrats," "Sesame Street," "SpongeBob SquarePants," and "Zoom."

The foundation responsible for this video has a "tolerance pledge" on their Web site that children and adults are encouraged to sign. The second paragraph of the pledge states: "To help keep diversity a wellspring of strength and make America a better place for all, I pledge to have respect for people whose abilities, beliefs, culture, race, sexual identity or other characteristics are different from my own" (see Tolerance Pledge, 2004, emp. added). Joan Garry, of the Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation, stated: "It"s about creating awareness and understanding of people who are different. Why shouldn"t that be a good thing for America"s young people?" (as quoted in Crary, 2005). This "politically correct" position allows public schools to then brainwash children into thinking that any lifestyle is acceptable and should be tolerated. Focus on the Family founder James Dobson believes that the true agenda of this new video "is to desensitize very young children to homosexual and bisexual behavior" (as quoted in Crary, 2005).

The Public Broadcasting Service is promoting a children"s series, "Postcards from Buster," in which one episode features the lead character"an animated bunny"visiting children of two lesbian couples in Vermont. Thus, the message to untold millions of youngsters: homosexuality is just another "lifestyle." If parents want to rear children who fear the Lord, and children who can recognize sin, they better start teaching them how to identify it. The video, "We are Family," is unleashing on the young people of the United States a horrible evil, and if unchallenged will contribute to the moral bankruptcy of this nation.

The Bible speaks definitively and decisively on the issue of same-sex relations (e.g., Romans 1:26-27; see Miller, et al., 2004). America"s original laws were founded on the Bible. For the first 150 years of American history, the vast majority of America"s judges conformed their rulings to God"s laws and the laws set in place by the Founders. Consequently, homosexuality was considered a criminal offense. It was an illegal sin in all of the original thirteen states. What"s more, the penalty for homosexuality in the state of New York was death (Painter, 2001). With this latest rejection of God"s laws and the laws of our Founders, our nation is slowly but surely showing itself to be more pagan and more immoral than the most depraved nations of human history.

Did you notice that the judge in the New York case maintains that all people have the "fundamental right to follow their hearts"? "Fundamental right?" Yet, in direct contradiction to the New York State judge, U.S. Supreme Court Chief Justice Burger declared forthrightly in the 1986 case of Bowers v. Hardwick: "[i]n constitutional terms there is no such thing as a fundamental right to commit homosexual sodomy" ("Bowers...," 1986, emp. added). "Follow their hearts?" Is this the message cartoons are trying to send to America"s children? It sounds very similar to societal conditions that prevailed during the period of the Judges in Old Testament history, when moral, spiritual, and sexual anarchy prevailed to the extent that "everyone did what was right in his own eyes" (Judges 21:25). "Follow their hearts?" That"s all that the Islamic terrorists are doing. That"s all that pedophiles and zoophiles are doing as well. When society makes its moral decisions based on the subjective inclinations of the human heart and personal preference, rather than on objective laws based on Scripture and longstanding historical recognition of morality and decency, social decay and eventual collapse are inevitable. In the words of Justice Burger: "To hold that the act of homosexual sodomy is somehow protected as a fundamental right would be to cast aside millennia of moral teaching" ("Bowers..."). That is precisely what activist judges are doing"casting aside millennia of moral teaching.

Artaxerxes made one additional observation that ought to haunt America"s activist judges: "Whatever is commanded by the God of heaven, let it diligently be done for the house of the God of heaven. For why should there be wrath against the realm of the king and his sons?" (Ezra 7:23, emp. added). It is, in fact, not a matter of if. It is simply a matter of when. The God of the Universe will, in His own good time and in accordance with His infinite wisdom, implement an appropriate response to the gradual moral and spiritual deterioration of America. His righteous wrath will come. Immoral legislation may be handed down, and videos depicting homosexuality as the "norm" may be shown in classrooms all across this nation, but ultimately God will be the final judge. That final judgment may very well be America"s destruction from within"our own moral implosion.

we do not live in a theocracy, therefore any argument equating biblical law and judicial law is irrelevant.

in terms of our constitution, religion does not supersede freedom or equality....and it shouldn't.

you might view what's going on as an "inevitable moral implosion", and you are well within your rights to do so.....i believe it is a natural step towards realizing the full idea of equality.
