Default I ask all of you for forgiveness.....

I jumped in some ones case here pretty hard for bashing another faith/denomination.

As a mod I had to, but the way I said things was from my heart as a Christian, I do not despise the individual, but I do despise name calling and bashing and I was pretty harsh. I regret having said what I did, and I could go back and edit what I said, but in some cases on this board, especially on the "Hunting and Religion" forum I feel that as in real life you can not take back words spoken, you can only ask forgiveness for what was said and try not to be as harsh in the future.

Once again I ask all of you for forgiveness.

Taz,
I love you man. I don't really see where you did anything wrong but if you want forgiveness, you got it. I really don't know enough about the Mormans so that is why I stayed out of it. I'm actually glad you said what you did, it may of saved me some embarassment in the future.
Shake it off and have a great evening,
Brother Chuck

Taz,
I think your reaction to calling Mormonism a "cult" was understandble. As you alluded to, this word is a very loaded one. In our society the word "cult" has a meaning that goes well beyond religion. While it may technically mean a small group with unconventional religious beliefs; with the incidents surounding Jim Jones in Guyana, Heaven's Gate, David Koresh and the Branch Davidians, many people associtate groups knowns as "cults" with deadly violence and think of them as potentially dangerous. If I were a member of group labeled a "cult" I would feel that I was being accused of belonging to a quasi-criminal organization. While the Mormons may have religious beliefs that are different from more traditional Christian churches, Mormons have no greater propensity for violence or criminality than members of any other religion and giving them a label that might insinuate they do is unfair.

Whether they are born again evangelicals or atheists, people have strong views on religion and are rarely inclined to compromise on them. Being a moderator on a forum dealing with religion is therefore a very difficult job. However, again and again you have done an outstanding job of handling tough issues with wisdom and fairness. You are only human. I was raised a Catholic but have not been a practicing Catholic for years. Nevertheless, I bristle whenever I hear or see anti-Catholic statements.

Please keep up the good work.

TAZ and Trae
Taz, I agree 100%with Doc ,you are doing an excellent job. Goose, I also understand where you are coming from. I was also taught in Bible school that alot of religions are 'cults.' However; we must respect the rules of this forum. If you never came in Taz the rest of us might think it was OK too to call certain ones cults. I probably would of too and now I know it's not excepted here.

Taz, I really appreciate all that you do in here. I used to be on here alot more, in this particular forum that is. I stopped because it was anti-mormon sentiment at every post I made. Taz you are doing wonderful, I can say I am only on this forum because you are great enough to stand up against bashing of any kind. Thanks.
