Default John7:15-20 Like Christ..We will be hated

Good Day Friends,

7:15 And the Jews marvelled, saying, How knoweth this man letters, having never learned? The Jews were more in awe over the knowledge of Jesus than of the healng of the man in chapter 5 who had been bed ridden for 38 years. I don"t believe miracles were common either. Before I go on..this dis course goes to the very end of Chapter7 . The situation is why the Jews hate Jesus. They hate Him for claiming He is the Son of God and for "working on the sabbaath,"

7:16 Jesus answered them, and said, My doctrine is not mine, but his that sent me. Jesus responds to their question. As He has been saying all along"It is not my words but the Fathers. "He works, therefore I work." As Snooky and Leaf have reminded us..they are one. " And His name shall be called Prince of Peace, Mmighty God,The Everlasting Father."

7:17 If any man will do his will, he shall know of the doctrine, whether it be of God, or whether I speak of myself. This verse is talking about "any man" that"s you or me. If anyone will DO HIS WILL ,he shall KNOW of the doctrine. People ask"and how do you know . Those who do His will just know.We don"t think or presume we know His word is absolutely true." Man shall not live by bread alone but by EVERY WORD that proceedeth from the mouth of God."

7:18 He that speaketh of himself seeketh his own glory: but he that seeketh his glory that sent him, the same is true, and no unrighteousness is in him.
The true marks of a man of God. Who is getting the glory in that church. Also ,the true mark of a Christian..do we demand to have our way or are we seeking to glorify Him and striving for Him to be glorified. In our relationship. Agape love does that.
13:34 A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another.
13:35 By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another.

7:19 Did not Moses give you the law, and yet none of you keepeth the law? Why go ye about to kill me? He is saying you don"t know my doctrine because you don"t keep Moses law. Remember the awesome story coming up about the woman caught in adulatry. They all dropped their stones. They were not ass holy as they appeared to be.None of us all. We strive and buffet this flesh and still come up short. "For the just lives by faith." Romans 5: 1
Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ:

7:20 The people answered and said, Thou hast a devil: who goeth about to kill thee? The incident in John 5 had happened about 1 ½ years ago. We learn later that jealousy is their real motive of killing Jesus. He was a popular man. Word spread about the virtuous power that came from Him and the wisdom in His words. Why did Cain kill Abel?

1 JOhn3:12 Not as Cain, who was of that wicked one, and slew his brother. And wherefore slew he him? Because his own works were evil, and his brother's righteous.
3:13 Marvel not, my brethren, if the world hate you.

Rermember "We are not of this world. We know the Bible to be the doctrine of God. We know that if the world hated Jesus they will hate you also. We that are still around have counted that cost and leap with joy when we are hated.

Matthew 5:11 Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake.
5:12 Rejoice, and be exceeding glad: for great is your reward in heaven: for so persecuted they the prophets which were before you.

The good news".
Romans 831 What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us?
8:32 He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things?
8:33 Who shall lay any thing to the charge of God's elect? It is God that justifieth.
8:34 Who is he that condemneth? It is Christ that died, yea rather, that is risen again, who is even at the right hand of God, who also maketh intercession for us.
8:35 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword?
8:36 As it is written, For thy sake we are killed all the day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter.
8:37 Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us.
8:38 For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come,
8:39 Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

God Bless you ,
Chuck

Brother Chuck, I have often envisioned this meeting between Christ and the jews who hated him, I can see Christ calmly replying to them as they speak to him in raised angry voices, to an outsider observing this it would be great testimony as to the power of Christ.

Taz; One can only wonder what really went on. Those to whom the Law, Psalms, and Prophets were given, standing with murder in their hearts toward Jesus, because he dared to cross their traditions and interpretations of the scripture. How set in our ways can we become? So much truth and yet understanding so little. It makes me realize how important a teachable spirit is to a believer.
