Good Morning Friends,
John 6: 1-15
6:1 After these things Jesus went over the sea of Galilee, which is the sea of Tiberias. After his discourse with the Jews ,He goes back on the 90 mile walk to Galilee.
6:2 And a great multitude followed him, because they saw his miracles which he did on them that were diseased.
6:3 And Jesus went up into a mountain, and there he sat with his disciples. The mountain is actually a hill about 100 yds from the sea of Galilee. It is to my understanding that this lake was once the top of a volcano. There is a lot of basalt rock in the sea"..small blackish pebbles "The Sea of Galilee rests in the crater of an extinct volcano which, in ages past, spewed out its lava over the Golan Heights to the east. The Sea is 600 feet below sea level and is surrounded on all sides by steep hills." I believe it is about 37 miles in diameter.
6:4 And the passover, a feast of the Jews, was nigh.
"This was the third passover, since our Lord's baptism, and entrance on his public ministry; see (John 2:13) (5:1) . Whether Christ went up to this feast is not certain; some think he did not; but from what is said in (John 7:1) , it looks as if he did: how nigh it was to the feast, cannot well be said. Thirty days before the feast, they began to talk about it; and especially in the last fifteen days, they made preparations for it, as being at hand F2; and if there was now so long time to it, there was time enough for Jesus to go to it."
6:5 When Jesus then lifted up his eyes, and saw a great company come unto him, he saith unto Philip, Whence shall we buy bread, that these may eat? Jesus brings /introduces a problem to Phillip. And what a problem it was.Feeding 5000 men with nothing. Phillip probably hadn"t even considered feeding these folks.Isn"t Jesus wonderful? He always knows the answer well before the problem even exist. We only have to remember who always has the answer.Jesus does.
6:6 And this he said to prove him: for he himself knew what he would do.
6:7 Philip answered him, Two hundred pennyworth of bread is not sufficient for them, that every one of them may take a little. { one penny worth is a Denarius /a day"s wages} that Phillip says would not be enough. Yes in the natural this problem could not be solved. Thank God Jesus is not held by natural laws. He is the God who spoke the world into existence.
Col.1:16 For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him:
1:17 And he is before all things, and by him all things consist.
6:8 One of his disciples, Andrew, Simon Peter's brother, saith unto him,
6:9 There is a lad here, which hath five barley loaves, and two small fishes: but what are they among so many?
My heart is presently thinking about Mr.Fish who says I don"t hardly have any faith. Learn from Andrew Mr.Fish and give what little faith you have to Jesus and He will multiply it. All of us Mr. Fish were nothing before we came to Christ. He makes something out of nothing.
6:10 And Jesus said, Make the men sit down. Now there was much grass in the place. So the men sat down, in number about five thousand. He could of done it but chooses to work through people. They had to obey .Faith is obeying God in the little things. The disciples were preparing the 5000 to eat before the miracle came. They acted on the Word of Christ.They made the men sit. Some of us might of argued why???? There is no food anyway. But they obeyed.
6:11 And Jesus took the loaves; and when he had given thanks, he distributed to the disciples, and the disciples to them that were set down; and likewise of the fishes as much as they would. Again ,He works through His disciples. What is going through the disciple"s minds.Maybe"..they are learning that "Nothing is impossible with God." He is their provider. "What matter of man is this?"
6:12 When they were filled, he said unto his disciples, Gather up the fragments that remain, that nothing be lost.
6:13 Therefore they gathered them together, and filled twelve baskets with the fragments of the five barley loaves, which remained over and above unto them that had eaten. "When they were filled"
Had not only eaten, but had made a full meal, and were thoroughly satisfied, having eaten as much as they could, or chose to eat:
he said unto his disciples, gather up the fragments that remain,
that nothing be lost;
this he said, partly that the truth, reality, and greatness of the miracle might be clearly discerned; and partly, to teach frugality, that, in the midst of abundance, care be taken that nothing be lost of the good things which God gives; and which may be useful to other persons, or at another time."
6:14 Then those men, when they had seen the miracle that Jesus did, said, This is of a truth that prophet that should come into the world.Deut. 18:15
The LORD thy God will raise up unto thee a Prophet from the midst of thee, of thy brethren, like unto me; unto him ye shall hearken;
6:15 When Jesus therefore perceived that they would come and take him by force, to make him a king, he departed again into a mountain himself alone. All the commentators suggest that the 5000 possibly seen Him as their new earthly leader to lead them in victory over the Romans. Thus/Jesus would not have it and retires privately to the mountains.His Kingdom is not of this world.
Inn Conclusion.He knows the answer before the problem is even manifested." for your Father knoweth what things ye have need of, before ye ask him." And".God can make a lot out of little. Thanks for reading folks.
