Default This forum is ugly

It brings out the worst in me. That is not what I need in my walk with God, so I'll not be posting again for a very long time.

Bye.

I know what you mean ETO. We used to have some pretty spirited debates here, but somehow they did'nt get the way they do now. If in any way I have made your experiance here negative, I am truely sorry. I hate to see the old heads leave. God bless you and yours. Prosper, and be happy, in Jesus name.

Seems like religious debates can bring out the best and worst in folks. The best is when everyone agrees, but the worst usually pops out when you have differing opinions or beliefs. Sometimes we want to hold fast to what we have been taught or like or have always believed, rather than accept the truth that is right in front of us in black and white and red. For some reason, it's just human nature to get mad when you find out you might be wrong, or when you just can't get someone else to see things the same way you do. I know I'm as hard-headed as anyone, and I don't like being wrong either.

Mods can't always police every thread, and shouldn't have when the members are adults--especially on a religious board. I don't expect everyone to give up their beliefs and go along with whatever is said, but a lot more thought and courtesy could be put into many of the replies given. Nobody is going to convince anyone by making accusations and putting one another down. You can stand for what you believe without stomping someone's toes--just let the Bible do the talking. If someone doesn't see it the way you do, of if they just flat refuse to take it for what it is, don't get all up in the air about it. Remember the saying that was so popular not too long ago? "What would Jesus do?" If everyone would consider that, and apply it, there would probably be a lot less tension.

Debates are healthy when they are kept civil. I know they have given me a reason to study more and dig deeper. I've gotten as aggravated and frustrated as anyone over some topics. I've been accused of this and that, but I got over it.

I hope this doesn't come across the wrong way, but the way I see it is if you can't discuss/debate religion without getting mad, maybe it is time to take a break--and examine yourself. If you can't handle discussions, or even the accusations and name calling, then it's time to let it go for a while. Personally, if a difference of opinion or getting accused of something falsely on a message board is the worst thing that ever happens to me, I don't have much to worry about. The real world is a whole lot meaner, a whole lot more complicated, and I don't have a choice but to deal with it every day. If something like a message board on the internet is raising my blood pressure, I'll let it go--I won't sweat the small stuff, and this is definately small stuff.

A man will have to go along ways to find truer words typed. This is the med.s I have mostly perscribed for myself, I had found my posts here taking on an ugly side. I have lots going on in my day to day life and I found my sharing of Jesus' enlightenments lacking in compassion, I was failing the 2nd most important commandment there is, Love your fellow man as you love yourself

Eto The Pii I have always enjoyed reading your posts, I hope you will re-think your decision.

Thanks

Chad ,
We differ here a little brother. One of the strongest things I believe in is the power of people's words. Lot's of people don't fit into the people groups in church. They come here for fellowship. Some because of their health sakes cause people to spend more time on their computers than others. It only takes one bad apple to spoil this forum.I believe that bad apple is the one who is offending nearly everyone. As a mod it seems to me that you should be picking up on that and warn the individual who does the HABITUAL offending. If the warning is not heeded he /she should be banned from posting . We are not talking about a few times ,we are talking about loads of times. This is what would happen.....
1.Proverbs 22:10Cast out the scorner, and contention shall go out; yea, strife and reproach shall cease.

2. That individual would be search his heart and probably repent.

I do not make a habit of rebuking brothers;but sometimes it is real obvious that some take pleasure in offending others.
This is your call.

I understand what you are saying Chuck, and I have talked with a few people in private about certain things that have been said. I try to look at the over-all picture. You may not notice attacks from others, because they go along with your beliefs. There has been decrepancies from more than one or two. Like I said, I've caught my share of it. I'll admit I've given some also, and I'm trying to remedy that. I don't think the attacks were personal, from anyone--just a bit over-zealous, or maybe a lack of communication skills, or even just following how they have been taught to deal with others over the years. The slams I got were very familiar to me--nothing I haven't heard several times in debates and discussions.

For my part, I'm going to try to do better, and I ask that everyone else would do the same.

Chad,
I believe I have given you some of those slams before and I do apologize. The only one I can think of iof hand is the one I said, "You only have a half of a Bible." I do apologize for that hurtful statement. If there are others from me please forgive me.
Sincerely,
'Chuck

Brother's, I just can't believe a person will not go fishing or hunting
with me, because he believes different than me.! As long as a person is
Moral and a good person, I really don't care not even his nationality will
bother me. Seems like we have some here that get thier feelings hurt
real easy. Remember what I keep mentioing, I don't Confirm nor Conform
by Comparing!!!

No problem at all Chuck--I don't hold any of them against anyone. Honestly I couldn't quote any of them word for word, and could only name a very few folks that I remember for sure made them. That kind of stuff isn't worth cluttering up my memory with (it's cluttered enough as it is).
