"The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly" John 10:10. Many people have expensive security systems for their homes and cars. They know they have something of value. And they also know that there are thieves in the world that would like to take the valuable possessions they have.
While this is true for material possessions, so many people do not have security systems for their most valuable possession " their soul! The most precious thing on earth is the soul of an individual! We are created in the image of our loving God (Genesis 1:27). The fact that Jesus died to save our souls adds even more to our worth! We have something so precious, so unique, and so valuable; it is no wonder that Satan is giving every effort to steal, kill, and destroy our most priceless possession! The scriptures teach us to, "Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour" (1 Peter 5:8). Notice that the verse says that Satan is our adversary! Yes he is the adversary of God, but he is our enemy also! We must be ready to defend ourselves from this most able thief! How do we defend ourselves? What is the security system of our souls? Revelation 12:11 says, "And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, and they did not love their lives to the death." They overcame Satan by faith in the truth of God! "" this is the victory that has overcome the world " our faith" (1 John 5:4). We overcome the evil thief by our faith, and Peter breaks it down in 2 Peter 1:5-10. He tells us to add to our faith, courage, knowledge, self-control, perseverance, godliness, brotherly kindness, and love. Then he says in verses 10 and 11, "Therefore, my brethren, be even more diligent to make your calling and election sure, for if you do these things you will never stumble. For so an entrance will be supplied to you abundantly into the everlasting kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ." That is our security system! So empower yourself with the knowledge of God"s word and live a life of praise and service to Him! We are not without security! We have protection and abundant life in our Chief Shepherd Jesus Christ!
