John 4:43-54
Verse 43 - "Now after two days He departed thence and went into Galilee." [another 40 some miles]
Verse 44 - "For Jesus Himself testified that a prophet hath no honor in his own country." His town was Bethlehem in the Judean country. While in Israel I learned that 87 percent of Christ"s miracles were around Galilee.
Verse 45 - "Then when He was come into Galilee, the Galilaens received Him, having seen all the things that He did at Jerusalem at the feast: for they also went unto the feast." Remember this is where he drove the sheep and oxen out of the temple in John 2:15. The Galilaens had gone down to Jerusalem to the Passover and after, "SEEING ALL THE THINGS THAT HE DID AT JERUSALEM," they received Him. Jesus was not wimpy. His zeal for God consumed Him.
Verse 46 - A certain nobleman. A nobleman is a king"s man or one who works for an official. His son was sick at Capernaum.
Verse 47 - When he heard Jesus was in town he asked for Him to come and heal his son, for he was at the point of death. The man was desperate. His son was dying.
Verse 48 - Jesus appears to take it personal saying, "Except ye see signs and wonders, ye will not believe."
Verse 49 - The nobleman continues to plead for healing.
Verse 50 - "Jesus saith unto him, "Go thy way: thy son liveth." And the man BELIEVED THE WORD that Jesus had spoken unto him and went his way." Jesus did not lay His hands on him, but simply spoke the word. Yes, I believe God speaks His word to His sheep. John 10:16 - "And other sheep I have, which are not of this fold: them also I must bring, and they shall hear my voice." AND THE MAN BELIEVED THE WORD.
Verse 51 - "And as he was now going down, his servants met him, and told him, saying, "Thy son liveth.""
Verse 52 - Then he asked when. Hey, let"s confirm this healing. "They said unto him, "Yesterday at the seventh hour [1:00 p.m.] the fever left him."" He could have said, well this might have been just a coincidence, but he didn"t. He continued in his believing.
Verse 53 - "So the father knew that it was at the same hour, in the which Jesus said unto him, "Thy son liveth:" and himself believeth, and his whole house.
Believe"Greek word pist-yoo-o [means to commit/put to trust] The whole family got saved. Dad"s, I personally believe that the salvation of your household rests mainly on you. Not always, but in most cases, if dads will trust God most of the time the family will follow.
Verse 54 - This is His second miracle.
In conclusion, Today ,like the nobleman,Christians who love the Lord ,take Him at HIs Word. They think about the things of God all day long.Whenever Jesus is around, something good happens. Taz posted a very sweet post not long ago. It was about dancing with Christ. The overall gist was to let Jesus lead and you follow. Dancing is uncomfortable at first, but with hours of practice we can commit/trust the leading of our Lord. His yoke truly is easy and His burden is light.
Have a wonderful day,
Brother Chuck
