Default Watching a hunting show and have a question

I believe that the animal you take should be consumed, utilized, or harvested due to being a danger or damaging animal like Yotes, cats, etc.. I was watching a hunting show that had the hunters hunting zebra. On this show they showed them eating the zebra, which at first I thought was ok, but then I remember what the bible teaches. It states not to eat hoof animals that do not have a split hoof. A zebra does not have a split hoof. From a Christian point of view, what do you all think.

Not a troublesome problem, just curious.

10:13
And there came a voice to him, Rise, Peter; kill, and eat.
10:14
But Peter said, Not so, Lord; for I have never eaten any thing that is common or unclean.
10:15
And the voice spake unto him again the second time, What God hath cleansed, that call not thou common

KJV, Genesis 9:3 says, every moving thing that liveth shall be meat for you;
even as the green herb have I given you all things.

Burnie, we eat Horse meat that comes from Uruquay cured in brine
just like the Cod Fish "Bacalao". The horse meat is called "Tasajo".
Here in Dade City,FL close to me theres a butcher shop that sells
fresh horse meat. Heck, if you eat Elk and Moose you'll eat Horse meat.
I know alot of people that eat Bear.

That was a command in the Old Testament--I'll have to look it up, but there were lots of animals that were considered unclean and could not be used for food: the 4-legged critters had to chew a cud and have a split hoove, the fish couldn't be bottom dwellers (no catfish for the children of Israel), and there were restrictions on the fowl also. That rule was given only to the Jews, and was lifted from them by Christ.

While serving at the U.S. Embassy in Tokyo I went out to lunch with a co-worker who was a very devout Orthodox Jew. At every restaurant we went to he would ask the waiter or waitress if there was any pork or shellfish in the food they served. In ***an, practically every dish contains one or the other or both, so we had to leave and go try another place. I finally became exasperated and blurted out "With a whole Universe to run do you really think God cares what we have for lunch?".

One of the unique and rereshing things about Christianity, now that the Catholic Church no longer prohibits eating meat on Friday, is that it does not have dietary restrictions. To me dietary restrictions make no sense, particularly in a place like Africa where millions of people face starvation. Would God really want African children to keep dying from Kworshikor (A disease caused by inadequate protein consumption) because of the shape of an edible animal's hoof?

I agree doc- dosnt make much sense those food restrictions esp in africa etc. or when they burned our gm corn by the tons in front of the starving ppl we gave it to& they had to hold off at gunpoint. Does it make much sense tho when the pope goes in india/banglasesh etc& tells the masses not to practice birth control?

I do not live by the mosaic laws, who could. I was just curious on what the orthodox would think of that. I eat catfish, which is another animal you are not suppose to eat, its not a scale fish.
Just thought it would be interesting on what others thought.
