There you go again. First, I must deal with the light stuff, aka donut responses.
Burnie and Sswpriz, you guys are soooo bad.
Taz, although I haven't seen the tape, a few points come to mind.

Man I can not beleive 10 policemen can fire 120 rounds at one dude in a vehicle that is barely moving and only hit him 3 times, once in the toe, a finger and his shoulder!!!!!
|
Although some people think it is a snap to shoot into a vehicle and hit somebody every time, those kinds of people usually believe everything they see on TV BS shows where guys with 12 guage shotguns blow cars into the air, guys shoot smiley faces on targets while firing rapidfire and routinely are able to shoot guns/knives/bottles out of suspects' hands while shooting from the hip.
If you actually spend some time on a range, firing at even stationary vehicles, you will soon realize several things. Bullets often deflect from windshields for a variety of reasons, including angle of bullet striking angle of glass, composition of safety glass, type of bullet, etc. And you will realize that different vehicles have different amounts, thicknesses and strengths of metals. Shooting at the side of a vehicle does not always guarantee through and through penetration as numerous tests have proven. Shooting into the back of a vehicle is often a poor way to hit a suspect in front of the vehicle due to the large amount of material the bullet must pass through, such as rear metal doors/windows, seats, cargo, headrests, etc. Many times a bullet will be stopped by a vehicle headrest. One of my buddies was involved in just such a shootout wherein he stopped a car and the driver began shooting at him from inside his vehicle. One of my buddy's 9mm rounds penetrated the rear window and was stopped by the driver's headrest. Another 4 inches or so and that would have been a closed case instead of the suspect shooting my buddy 9 times and temporarily getting away.

What ever happened to policemen who knew how to shoot? The dudes that took out Bonnie and Clyde put more holes in those 2 then a sieve!!!!
|
And the cops shooting at Bonnie and Clyde fired how many rounds from .45 caliber submachine guns (instead of pistols)? And probably quite a few at close range as well? Try this experiment Taz. Have somebody back up a vehicle trying to run you over and see how well you shoot when you figure out you really have no where to run or escape and you need to stop that vehicle with only your pistol. Hint, your aim might be a little rushed and therefore not up to your usual excellence in marksmanship.

BTW what do you think about where the shootout happened?
|
See above answer. The suspect picks the location where he attacks and you either defend yourself or likely get murdered.

Did I mention the suspect was unarmed?

The suspect was trying to run them over with a Chevy SUV. That was his weapon and yes, it can kill you. For every cop killed with a gun, 15 more are killed with vehicles.

Do not get me wrong, I feel that the cops were justified if the guy was really trying to back over them, but they went a little over board!

I'd like to hear a little more of the facts before assuming the cops went overboard. They may have and they may not have. We won't know until we get more of the facts. This is just my humble opinion Taz but I would withold that judgement a little longer before making those assumptions.
