Dad got a page on his Sheriff's pager on Saturday saying that one of the guys on the force with him died in Iraq Saturday.
The attack was two car bombs and killed some 25 people. I'm sure yall read about it. Todd Venette was his name. He went over there as a contractor and had a few months left to fulfill his obligation to the company. He was in a 3 SUV convoy and car bombers rammed the front vehicle and back vehicle. He was a good guy. He's on the fire department here in Rsvl and cruised with dad as a Sheriff's Deputy.
"Error never shows itself in its naked reality in order not to be discovered. On the contrary, it dresses elegantly, so that the unwary may be led to believe that it is more truthful than truth itself."
-Irenaeus of Lyon
Will do, FroMan. My daughter has a good friend whose father was killed by a car bomb there last month. I pray all the time that every one of them can come home soon.

Todd Vanette was a personal friend of mine. We served together in the Marine Corps. We we in the same platoon at FAST company. He and I were in Mogadishu togather and were pretty tight then. He and I saw each other for a bit end of last summer before he left. Wish I knew then that it was the last time I'd get to talk to him.
