Baghdad, Iraq, Jul. 17 (UPI) -- American journalist Seymour Hersh has said there are videotapes of American soldiers sodomizing young Iraqi boys at Abu Ghraib prison
The investigative journalist, one of the first to break the story of prisoner abuses, said the Bush administration is holding the tapes of these acts, Aljazeera.net reported Saturday.
"The boys were sodomized with the cameras rolling, and the worst part is the soundtrack, of the boys shrieking. And this is your government at war," he said.
There was "a massive amount of criminal wrongdoing that was covered up at the highest command out there, and higher," he said.
but if it is true, I would EXPECT NOTHING LESS than a firing squad.
Bingo. Frankly, I'm suprised this even ended up in the Washington Times with so little detail. There must be some compelling evidence. I certainly hope it proves to be nothing more than anti-war propaganda.
But if it is true, whoever did it needs to pay big time. What a disgrace.
And that includes the officers who didn't act to stop it or punish the offenders.

Hersh caused a small scandal regarding his credibility when he admitted in an interview with a New York Magazine writer, "œI can"™t fudge what I write. But I can certainly fudge what I say."
These public claims have not been independently verified, nor appeared in print under Hersh's byline in the pages of his current employer, The New Yorker, which fact checks its writers, and as Hersh himself has admitted may be distorted to protect sources or for other reasons.
he brought up these accusations a year ago in a speech and no one has written an article on it besides saying that aljareera reported it. I don't beleive anything they do, when aljazeera was getting all those tapes of the beheadings and wouln't help find out where they came from.
I'd want to see more information on this before believing somebody as flaky as hersh. If it does turn out to be true, somebody needs to be imprisoned for a very long time.[:@]

I doubt this recent story is true but the already documented sexual abuse of prisoners at Abu Gharib by U.S. soldiers will unfortunately give these allegations of child rape and sodomy more credibility than they deserve in much of the world with resultant damage to U.S. interests abroad.

The one thing that makes me doubt this is the source Aljazeera.net ! If this does prove true then the perpatrators should be punished as harshly as possible!
