Default A new twist.

Im not trying to beat a dead issue, but want to know how you feel about this.

In Texas, the emu market was a big thing during the 80s and 90s. When the market fell out on the emu market, most of the emu ranchers let their birds go on the Brazos river. The feral emus started killing all the grouse, snakes, lizards, and anything else they could fit in their mouth. The gamewarden told me that if you see an emu, while out hunting, kill it on the spot. Is this wrong? They are doing just what feral cats are doing, the only difference is they are not cut and fluffy.

The real issue with the feral cats in wisco is the "supposed damage"..... the premise is all based upon one UW madison 'study' which doesn't even mention feral cats, it simply mentions "outdoor cats".

Besides, EMU are cute and fuzzy...

tard, why should it make a difference what kind of cats there are? if my dog destroys stuff, i pay for it. my dog doesnt go out and kill stuff. cats are the only animal that kill just for the sake of killing. they are an indoor animal and should remain indoors unless they're on a leash like dogs have to be.

This statement is untrue, domestic dogs, coyotes, wolves, weasels and man kill for "Fun" not just cats. These are the domestic species (as in indiginous to North America) that I know for sure that will kill beyond their need for survival, there are probably others.
The debate about cats is, again, not the killing of feral cats but the indiscriminate killing of cats by those that hate cats plain and simple.
Emus are an introduced species that have no place in the wild in North America. Most Fish and Game departments will support the removal of these birds with no questions asked just as they would support the killing of feral cats. Again the problem with killing cats is that so many people express an outright hatred of all cats and would not hesitate to kill or maim any cat they come across no matter the circumstances.
I patrol 25,000 acres of wildlife management area, in the past seven months I have seen exactly 3 cats on the area, all of them near homes along the area boundary. Did I kill them? No! Would I kill them in the future? Only if they are seen to be diseased, injured or if they attack any of the public that visits the area.

Too late on the Camels, the U.S. Army tried them out in the late 1800s in the Southwest. They didn't work out and were turned loose to fend for themselves. I believe there are now (or were) several small herds of them running wild in Southern California, Arizona and or Nevada. Lions have been lost/turned loose as well but are not usually a problem for very long as they tend to get killed off pretty quickly.

So, you're telling me a Game Warden told you it was perfectly legal to shoot and kill any emu's found runnign wild on open land? State public land and private as well? I've eaten emu as a friend of mine was a distributor for an emu ranch. It is very good (a little lean, needs some fat in the pan) but tasty.
I might have to swing through Wisconsin and texas to sample the new hunting offerings!
Do you need a general lisence or anythiong to start shooting at 'em? (the emu's)
