Default Question on this cat thing

Who do I send my vet bills to? My dogs and cats have gotten worms many times from feral cats. My vet tells me Im lucky so far, he is seeing more and more cases of diseases spread by feral cats. Or who is going to come over and fix my garden everyday ? Feral cats keep craping in it and digging it up. Im just curious because the things are reproducing like rabbits in the fields near my house. Speaking of rabbits, there gone now. Wonder who has killed them off.

I don't know if the guy was BSing me, but my ex-boss used to live in Georgia and told me about how the damn feral cats would spread diseases like pinworms by crapping in the kids' sandboxes. He told me that the way to check for pinworms was to view the afflicted's poop chute with a flashlight at night when the worms come out to play.[:'(]

Good luck getting any help from the county ,
around here they won't even respond to nuisance dog calls unless they think the dog is about to attack a kid . When it comes to stray cats they just tell me to SSS . I give all trespassing critters a warning shot the first time I see them , if they're stupid enough to come back the shot goes a little higher the next time .

ehhh, just did a search on pinworms out of morbid curiosity. Don't do this if you want to enjoy your breakfast or lunch.

Are you talking tape worms? Then your animals are eating

a) other animals crap

b) other dead animals.

c) licking said feral cats rear end.

Nope, i've actually been involved in performing the procedure. You put on rubber gloves, turn a piece of cellophane tape sticky side out on your finger.

then you touch the rectum, then you have to view the larvae under a microscope to make a proper diagnosis.

(I worked in a children's clinic in the past as a volunteer)

When I lived on a farm in Illinois we did not need authorization from the State to shoot at nuisance animals. Birdshot in a shotgun may not kill a dog, but it is mighty discouraging to them. Ditto with birdshot in a .22 LR. Don't get the idea that my father or I were anxious to kill people's pets, but if it was a problem that needed solving, it was goin' to get solved. This would mean that these wild animals were causing trouble to our property or our pets -- including a dog and one or two domestic cats.

A BB gun or other airgun may be employed against the cat in the garden, if you can see the cat. Otherwise, some sort of non-damaging trap could be used -- taking the unwanted cat to the pound or just across the county line (which merely redistributes the problem rather than resolving it).

I don't know how the laws of the various states read, but I believe they should read that if your pet is not controlled and kept on your property, you can not find fault with someone else disposing of that animal when it causes troubles on their properties. People are pretty reasonable and don't cavalierly kill obviously domesticated animals which accidently escape or break-out of confinement.

I hope you didn't volunteer because they had an opening in the pinworm inspection ward
