Politics Nothing goes with politics quite like crying and complaining, and we're a perfect example of that.

Default WI boys:how'd you vote on the feral cat issue?

my dad and i voted yes. i think it passed in crawford county like 42-12 or so. there was 3 or 4 tree huggers that showed up and totally got shut down by everyone. i can't imagine what type of fiasco ensued in Dane County where all the greenies were gonna blow things up. How did you vote and what was it like in your county?

It passed in Marathon county.

Now watch the hunters become the hunted when they blast the first person's pet that they see.

I predict some dogs are going to get roached too.

This issue has now been picked up by the national news media which is portraying as nothing less than shocking that someone would want to shoot a feral cat. When will people realize these are not cuddly house pets we are talking about? These are voracious introduced predators that are wreaking absolute havoc on native wildlife. I do not see how anyone can call themselves an environmentalist and not support all available means to control this destructive invasive species.

The issue is whether they are actually a problem or not.

I had to laugh last night when I watched the news and they brought this up locally. They showed cats in people's back yards wearing collars, cats not wearing collars well fed and cared for on somoene's back porch and cats in allies in the city of Milwaukee and used those photos as "proof" of the rampant nature of cats.

Funny thing is, they never included any testimony of Veterinarians who said they have a rash of pet owners bringing their pets in that are spayed/neutered, declawed with a bullet wound.

The largest professional protest came from Veterinarians in Waukesha county who claimed that the amount of animals they saw with savage wounds were in the semi rural areas and all the cats were pets.

You can argue the "leash" garbage, but I still (based upon knowledge of having done forest survey work) know that stray cats reside mainly in the city.

this is a farce to me.

I especially love the "song bird" argument...

Like these guys are out on their back porches, sipping their morning frappaccino's in their fuzzy slippers listening to "song birds" that are supposedly being ravaged.

the only bird around wisconsin that makes any noise are Crows and Eagles.

And I don't think a cat is gonna screw with an eagle.

Yes tard, i do sit out on the deck and listen to birds. Laugh you may, but i enjoy sitting out there shooting my bow or just unwinding after work in the summer listening to red wings, bobolinks, meadowlarks and blue birds. its relaxing. when i found dead birds last year, i pretty much eliminated all the local cats. Also, there are lot of cats in the woods around here. you may not see it much over there when you're busy serving serial killers in inner city milwaukee. I hate cats witha passion. They are an invasive exotic species who kill off tens of millions of animals. I mean, isn't a stray cat the same thing as a stray dog? cats do alot more damage.

In wisconsin as a whole, the DNR decided to let it go, as it has caused too many problems and way too many people got upset. They said suppsedly because there are too many details, but once again, just like on the successful earn a buck system, our limp wristed DNR has backed down on an important issue.[:'(]

Well there you have the motivation.

Can you explain to me how it is possible that me having trudged through almost every inch of the Chippewa forest and damn near every plot of land in the early 80's that was going under highway construction that i never ONCE saw a cat?

I did kick up a few bears, I kicked up a few deer.... never once saw a cat.

Please explain that to me.
