Default "Racially Correct" 9/11 sculpture

Racial Changes Made in Ground Zero
Firefighter Tribute

It happened more than two weeks ago, but at
least one New York City firefighter is still
steaming over the politically correct changes
made to a sculpted tribute to the firefighter
heroes who raised the American flag at Ground
Zero just hours after the World Trade Center
was leveled on 9/11.

The three flag-raising fireman, as depicted in
a widely publicized photograph taken by New
Jersey's Bergen Record, were white.

But when a statue commemorating the event was
unveiled at the FDNY's Brooklyn headquarters
on Dec. 21, the three white firefighters had
been replaced by a more racially diverse trio
of unidentified Fire Department staffers.

The $180,000 statue is the first memorial to
the 343 firefighters and emergency medical
personnel killed Sept. 11, reported Newsday at
the time.

The racial modifications came at the behest of
Fire Department officials, artists with Studio
EIS, located on York Street in the Dumbo
section, told the paper.

Our firefighter-reader complained:

"What Firefighters McWilliams, Johnson and
Eisengrein did inspired the people of the
United States in one of its darkest hours. ...
This photograph is as sacred as the famous
photograph and sculpture of the US Marines
raising the Flag on Iwo Jima. ...

"The 343 firefighters [who] were killed at the
WTC (54 of whom I knew personally) consisted
of all races and creeds.

"But the fact is that the 3 firefighters who
hoisted the Flag on the afternoon of Sept 11th
at the WTC were white and should be depicted
as such."

We couldn't have said it better ourselves.

Folks this is a new low for "political correctness" in my opinion. What a kick in the pants for the 3 white firemen who actually raised the flag. I am so amazed and disgusted that I don't even know what to say right now.

I have seen that photograph of the 3 WHITE men time after time. It sure is a beautiful site. I bet most of the people who will see that statue will say, "What in the heck is that? Those are not the men who stood on top of the rubble waving the American flag."
I will never be going to New York so I will never see this statue. Here is the scene that I will always remember and hold dear to my heart.

More to show that the white man is the one who REALLY is subjected to the most racisim in this country. They would have NEVER changed the appearance of the fire-fighters if they had been black, hispanic, arab, etc.. to start with.

OK, I get it. 19 out of 19 terrorist hijacking bastards were middle easterners but we are going to have to divvy it up now to make it right.

Rewriting history before the dust has actually settled. This scares the bejebers out of me. Man I could almost cry.
I know that the libbies will say, what difference does it make? It's a symbol of unity and patriotism.
Well it does not relect the truth. And Reddog hit the nail on the head, this would never happen if those men were anything but white males.

I wonder, if the three had been black guys, would they have still changed it to include a white man ? I doubt it ...
