Lawmaker Wants Teachers In Hawaii Weighed For Obesity

I laughed when I first read this article. I've seen plenty of huge teachers over the years, and the irony of them being held to standards similar to those of students is a bit humorous. But this politician is serious about this.

But I don't think it really matters. Students aren't interested in learning how to avoid getting fat. That kind of lesson starts at home. Besides, what student sits in school and dreams of growing up to be like a teacher? If you want to keep kids thin, make the teachers bigger so fat is associated with evil, boring, nasty teachers.

I'd rather have an obese teacher who knows his/her stuff than a skinny one that doesn't know squat anyway.

it sounded like total crap to me ...

I've been to Hawaii , and I didn't notice that there were that many more fatties there than other places I've been . Perhaps they were hiding the teachers ?

I don't know ... If you look at hawaiian ancestry it's similar to alot of other cultures that for centuries did not eat alot of fatty foods and their systems got used to "lean meals" - then when all the food from Europe was introduced, many of these people started blowing up like blimps.


But this is still stupid for the goob to get involved in this garbage.

as i recollect, most of the nuns that taught me could've subbed on the broncos' offensive line. they were HUGE, and could move pretty quickly for big women. the abject fear and terror they commanded inspired me to learn.


also inspired a lifelong, unnatural fear of penguins.

BTW , ever seen a Samoan ? There are tons of them in Hawaii and Kookifornia and I can't recall ever seeing a thin one . The actual Hawaiian native folk all looked relatively trim to me , compared to the Samoans they were practically Flockharts .

Only met one Samoan and he was a fatty.

The rest I saw on T.V. , whether it be documentary or otherwise and all the guys were fat, the married women were fat. The only thin ones were young males (teenagers) and young women (didn't let themselves go yet)

The funny thing is that the women are frequently bigger that the men from my observations . There was a small Samoan contingent in my neighborhood in Kookifornia , and nearly all of the women were at least the size of the men . Nearly all of both sexes other than prepubers were also overweight as you observed . The ones I saw in Hawaii were no different . They were also much nicer than the Hawaiians in general . Good thing too , 'cause we're talking about some very large humans . [&:]
