Default I TOLD you so !

Sleep apnea is the next greatest thing for Americans to be diagnosed with. CNN was all about it this morning, it was all over the news last night.

I have a cure for sleep apnea that effects 95% of those with sleep problems. Tommorrow get up at 6 am. Run as far you can, then walk, then run, then walk ......... and do that for 1 hour. Then, go home and eat a healthy breakfast. When you're done, vaccuum your house, dust and clean, drink lots of water - do this for a couple of hours. Then go for another long walk with some running if you can. Eat a healthy lunch, some healthy snacks. Mow and rake the yard - don't use the riding mower, push it. Work in the flower beds. Eat a good healthy supper. Do some push ups and sit ups. You should be getting tired at this point. Take a long, hot bath, with bubble bath or bath oils. Afterwards, read a book for about 20 minutes. Long about 9 pm or so, snuggle with the spouse, have some "quality" time and at 10 pm you should hit the pillow sound damn asleep and having the best sleep you've had in months.

No drugs, no machines, no nasal strips - a good hard day of physical work that, after 16 hours of being awake your body WANTS to have a good sleep. I suppoe theres rare cases where sleep apea really is a problem, and not a byproduct of obesity or something else, but by and large if Americans did a good day of physical work they'd sleep just fine.

Sleep Apnea - the next greatest catch fad for Americans

My dad has apnea. The cure is simple, yet is the hardest thing for some people. It is weight loss.

Yup, almost all cases are due to being overweight.

So instead of puttng the fork down and doing some exercise, there will be a huge goob grant given to "study" the problem and come up with some new wonder drug that has side effects of psychosis and diarrhea... and it will be mandated by the goob that all insurance companies MUST pay for this.

Generalizations like that are a poor substitute for understanding the problem Data ,
not all fat people have sleep apnea , many cases are caused by something as simple as loose flesh in the throat . That's what it is in my particular case , although mine isn't serious enough to warrant a surgical solution . I could lose a few pounds , but it wouldn't cure the problem . It can also be caused by allergies , particularly undiagnosed food allegies , that cause the throat tissues to swell slightly . Maybe all the folks with allergies should start sweatin' to the oldies too ?

BTW , do youyou believe anything that CNN says ? I figured that you were better informed . I watched the Waco thing go down on my C-band dish on their uplink feed , "live" my left nut ...

First you say not all fat people get apnea (and no one said they did, but it is the MAJOR cause of it).

Then you say you're overweight, but losing weight won't help....

I see a circular argument ensuing.

You can think what you want Tard ,
you're not my doctor . She told me that the problem in my case can be corrected surgically because I have excess tissue in my throat , but that my weight(215) was not the direct causative factor , nor would losing it alleviate the problem . She has a degree in medicine , I think I'll listen to her . No offense .

I've always had breathing problems , particularly snoring . I can't even breathe out of my nose and never could . Even when I was a slim 150 lbs. I snored like a chain saw and suffered from apnea , it used to scare the crap out of my mother . It seems to run in the family , my younger brother snores and has apnea , yet he is very trim . Another brother who is much fatter than me also has apnea , and his weight has been pegged as the cause . My wife is a big lady at 250 , yet she doesn't have apnea .

Perhaps now you see what I meant about generalizing ? Being overweight isn't the sole cause of sleep apnea , a leading cause perhaps , but not the only one . Without seeing the supporting data I couldn't honestly agree that it's the leading cause , do you have a link or two ?

I can't sleep well and I know why.I get woke up with knee pain.I also am overweight but cannot excercise due to my leg and heart conditions. If I can get 6 hours of solid sleep,I would be fine. That happens about twice a month when I become exhausted.I don't just sit around the house,I try to go out and get around but it is very hard.I will try to go out for trout opening day,but usually I can't get out because I can't walk the streams.I go right near the bridges and don't walk very far.It is easy for somebody to tell somebody else what to do for a problem until they experience it for themselves.

Well then you in fact ARE out of the "norm"

No I don't. When (guessing) 95% of the cases are due to being overweight, it's a pretty damn good bet that if someone says they've got sleep apnea, they're overweight.

Ever gamble? Know how to play the odds?

Post your source Tard , 95% sounds too high without a few recognized studies at least , or are you still quoting CNN ? I don't gamble , I stick with facts . It's a fact that I and several members of my family have apnea according to medical professionals .
