Politics Nothing goes with politics quite like crying and complaining, and we're a perfect example of that.

Default Another quake (8.7) and damage in same place, maybe another tsunami

When I first read the bulletin, I wished I had Bush's phone number to convince him to appear immediately and give a public statement, before the tsunami actually hit if possible. I'd hate to see him catch grief again from those who blame him for the first one, or think all the money and effort the US gave doesn't mean anything because he didn't make a public statement within a day of the tragedy.

I'm sure everyone in the area has been warned, and if the first one wasn't a good enough warning, maybe Darwin needs a poke to cleanse the herd.

Bet we end up sending more money to whomever has their house washed away -- AGAIN.

Now a US scientist says a tsunami is CERTAIN, but how long does it take to get to places. I mean, how fast does it travel, 100 mph, 50 mph, or what?

My guess is that you are right. I've already heard rumblings about misappropriations of relief effort the first time. Seems like there can't be any help to anyone without someone trying to steal it...

600 mph is the speed - but this one hit right at the coastline and is now being tagged 8.7 - massive earthquake but far enough inland to not cause tsnamis to india it seems.

Africa might get them, islands out in the ocean might - mainland Indonesia/India unlikely it seems

http://reuters.myway.com/article/200...E-ASIA-DC.html

Thailand urged people living along parts of its west coast, including tourists
on the resort island of Phuket,
to evacuate while Malaysia issued a warning to coastal residents.

Thats exactly what I would be saying, and getting the hell out of there.

I think the preliminary data shows that this quake will not result in a catastrophic tsunami like the one a couple months ago.

I think the angle that the geological force was exerted played a part in the equation.

I'll bet Koffi and Jacques are already packing their bags so they can once again frequent Indonesia's finest hotels while they "discuss" UN possible UN aid efforts over a meal and wine at a five star restaurant mostly courtesy of the American taxpayer.

I do know one thing for certain, Indonesia is either the most unlucky country in the world for natural disasters, or they're on God's s***list!

If the government hadn't already robbed me to send unconstitutional aid halfway around the world to "help" the corrupt leaders of these "poor, impoverished" nations get loaded off our tax dollars, I might think about sending some money to charity. Unfortunately, the gubmint has bled me of all the charity I can handle.

Bah, what else is new? I'm sorry, but I can't help but chuckle at a country that's city names have so much vulgarity in them.
