Politics Nothing goes with politics quite like crying and complaining, and we're a perfect example of that.

I know if they called me to go I sure as hell wouldn't be hiding behind my wife. Tell your buddy to step up to the plate and talk to them, at least tell them he doesn't want to go. No, there isn't going to be a draft.[:@]

Do I think we should be in Iraq? I think we need to get our missions accomplished quickly and get out ASAP.

However, your buddy's attitude aggrivates me. I'm sure that all those folks who have been in Afghanistan and are now getting called back to go to Iraq don't like it. I'm sure that they would rather be at home with their families. But you remind your buddy that he is an active member of the military and is receiving a check from the United States Government as such. I'll just bet you that he wasn't complaining when he was on a base somewhere in the U.S. pulling day-to-day normal duties and drawing a decent paycheck.

I don't trust the premise of being in Iraq, I believe it was a deceitful ploy simply to get in there.

I am not affraid of a fight, been in many. I would have no problem dying for my country -- BUT ON MY TERMS.

Not based upon what corporate america thinks.

No, I do not support that political decision.
I do support our troops and pray for them daily.

I think it doesn't really matter whether we should be there or not. We are there and as soldiers/americans we should step up to the plate. I agree with Ben that we should get our business over with and get out .

Should we be there? Yes! WMD were there, used against his own people, now information is coming out that these WMD were (DUH???) moved out of the country right before the war. The movements toward free elections and democratization in Iraq & Afghanistan have started a thirst for freedom throughout the middle east. It was our war, eradication of terrorism does not mean dropping a few bombs on targets and declaring victory. (see 1/1993 - 1/2001) Eradication means that, total elimination!

deersniper101, this is not a slap, however please correct your spelling & grammar. The old psychological ploy being touted by some in the US political left that mispelled words & run-on sentences have greater effect because the reader has to correct to get the meaning has very dubious value in the real world.

Sounds to me as if the one with the problem is deersniper, his buddy has apparently told him the military has been calling him asking him to re-up and go back to the boonies. There is no intimation of the "Buddies" thoughts or inclinations, just deersnipers' attitude.
If the "Buddie" having retired is so inclined, then I'm sure he'll go back, if not, he has served his time and knows how to say thanks for the offer but I'm all partied out.
Yes the military is having some problems with enlistments and retention, that is a pretty normal thing considering the situation. Having served under both systems, draft and volunteer, I must say the all volunteer system beats the daylights out of the draft for a lot of reasons.

We should pull the troops out and turn the place to glass, and see if the rest of the middle east falls in line!
