I'm not really sure what my opinion is regarding women and the draft so I'm curious what others think. It does seem, however, that in this day of equal rights a law requiring men only to register for the draft is discrimination. If it were reversed I'm positive there would be an outrage. Anyway, what do you all think?
For the life of me I will never understand why any woman would want to serve in a combat role -- Hell, i wouldn't volunteer to get my arse shot off.
It's another case of "i wanna be in the club' syndrome.
Not only are women simply not designed for combat roles, the logistical nightmare of "seperate but equal" for the sake of political correctness would cost the taxpayers a fortune.
Plus, what of the added expense for camoflage jogging bras.
I'd be just fine with an all-male military. I just don't see a need for equal opportunity. I want a military that kills the enemy, not lives up to some poilitically correct employment standard.
You're right though--the lefties would have a fit if we refused to allow women in.
I'm also against the draft. I'd rather go with volunteers.
Keep them out, keep them out, keep them out!!!! It is hard enough to keep boys inline without them eyeing the other soldiers. Why do you think when ever a ship goes out to sea and comes back there are a few pregnant sailors and broken marriages.

To be perfectly honest, I don't think they belong in the combat arms.... PERIOD!! BUT, we lost that fight long ago, so if they're going to allow them then throw them in the draft too. Come to think of it... I don't think there should be women police officers or fire fighters either. My only reasons for this are purely physical in nature...and no....not the kind you whackos are thinking of. It's a known fact that women are weaker, slower and don't have the physical strength of a guy. I wouldn't want to be in a foxhole with a woman knowing she's the only one available to carry me out if I were wounded. I'd hate to have some 110 pound girl trying to pull me from a burning building. I know there are exceptions to everything...but that's exactly what they are... the exceptions. I want BUBBA in the foxhole with me and Suzzie in the rack.
I don't think there should be women police officers or fire fighters either.
What really frosts my balls about situations like this is that the testing for women in physically demanding jobs is LESS than for men.
I have a buddy thats a linesmen and noone will work with the women because they only have to carry 100 pounds down a pole while the men have to carry over 200 pounds.
How many linesmen do you know that weigh less than 100 pounds ????
I'm currently in the military and a Cavalry Scout and here is my take on this situation. My personal opinion on womens' entrance/draft potential into service is.....no. But, if we must, then let there be an equal standard, regardless of gender, and then we can take a look at our bottom line accordingly and make a decision. I would guess a standard physical requirement for an 18-21 year old would seperate the "wanting to be in the club" from the "wanting to do my fair share for the mission" folks. I've been on two combat deployments now, and I'm not inpressed with the "I could do your job" folks out there. They soon figure out that it's not an easy life and run back to their desk.[:@]

Between active duty and reserve time from 1966-1992 I served with women in a number of capacities. They ranged from one that was 98 pounds soaking wet with a Peacoat on to one built like a fireplug that one day stated "Da guys calls me Spike" (she was a SGT. on the NYPD Transit cops for her day job) "Spike" could do the job, but even she was not in the same league as even the least of the male members of the unit. There are some jobs they can do and some they can't. Let them do those that they can.
