Politics Nothing goes with politics quite like crying and complaining, and we're a perfect example of that.

Default Congress policing baseball

Is it me, or is this the biggest crock of $#!t ever. Congress should have nothing to do with steroid abuse in baseball. Tax dollars should not be spent on this crap. If baseball doesn't clean up there act, it will be the final nail in the coffin. I lost all hope for the sport back in the 80s when they keep striking. Im rather bent about congress getting involved, and why does it seem like Im the only person who sees it this way.[:@][:'(]

WHOA NELLY !!!

Your tax dollars are spent on this crap in the form of TIF districts, Taxpayer subsidized or fully paid for stadiums... etc. etc. STOP that crap first.

"professional sports" is supposed to be a private enterprise, but they are sucking the taxdollars like pigs at a trough.

I've not been following this real close, but I thought I heard something on the news about federal antitrust laws allowing congress to meddle. Something like, MLB is a monopoly, therefore congress can regulate it more closely than other industries. I might be wrong.

In that case, it is recovered through stadium billings. I have no problem with that. Other than W.P.A., P.W.A, as well as the other New Deal programs, the building of these stadiums have been profitable to the cities involved. My gripe is Congress doing what they are not ment to do.

I can see the antitrust and monopoly side to it. No problem with that, but to spend time and resources for the soul purpose of cleaning up a game is crazy.

I cant speak for Wisconsin, it sounds like things are crazy up there. I was refering to a city as a whole. New stadiums bring in more business, which intern creates more jobs, etc.. On a personal level, no they will not give you your tax dollars back, but in the long run, will it help the over all economy thus helping individuals and create a load of revenue from taxes itself.? I ask that as a true question, not a smart remark, im assuming here. I know of a small town that built a refining plant with tax money. Once after the cost of building was made up, the town collects over 6 million dollars a year on taxes from the business alone. This Little town has top of the line everything, from the schools to the post office.

Congress is only jumping in here because it is a none issue and can't hurt them politically.
I think our tax dollars would be better spent if they worked on medical insurance fraud, a non partisan SS reform, reform the tax laws and about a hundred other things.
