Politics Nothing goes with politics quite like crying and complaining, and we're a perfect example of that.

Default Executive Outcomes and PMC's

I wrote a bit the other day about having found information about private military companies.

This morning on the History Channel I watched a special about an outfit called Executive Outcomes.

This stuff represents an entirely new wrinkle in international policy and global security concerns. It allows those that use these companies to use these companies to accomplish political objectives and maintain plausible deniablity.

Be afraid. Be very afraid.

G. Gordon Liddy started one of those up in the 80's. He was actually contracted to rescue a U.S. citizens kid whose arab father grabbed him and high tailed it back to Iran (i think it was iran).

they helicoptered in in the middle of the night and swiped the kid back.

Other than the international issue, I believe this has been going on for well over a hundred years. I may be wrong, but it seems the Pinkerton Detective Agency was started back in the 1860's or before and did very similar work for both private companies and the government on a different scale. They did everything from union busting in the Colorado gold fields to chasing after the James gang and others that went after the rail roads and banks and were the forerunner of todays Secret Service in providing presidential security.
Regardless, given the training received by many men that are now ex or prior some military organization (Marines, Delta Force,Army Rangers/Special Forces Seals, Spetznaz, SAS) and the weapons available today (at a price) it could be a touchy situation if it were allowed to get very far.

Executive Outcomes claimed that its sole purpose was to bring stability to the region by supporting legitimate governments in their defense against armed rebels. Nevertheless, rumors persisted that the firm was connected to either the South African DeBeers Diamond Corporation or the South African government.

German jews..... how surprising.

The first thing I remember reading about this sort of thing was in "the war on drugs' in Columbia.

Thanks

PMC's virtually destroy the Geneva Convention - but it seems we don't care about that anymore.
I'm actually caring about it less and less each day. We don't line up in columns and stand 50 yards apart from our enemies on an open battlefield anymore. Countries have changes, politics have changed, and war has changed.

Following rules written over 100 years ago doesn't work anymore. Times change.
