PAY AS IT GOES
We all know that millions of dollars are transferred from immigrants (both legal and illegal) to relatives in their native countries each year. Mexico's second highest source of revenue is money transferred from the US, for instance. Sure we get cheap, unskilled labor from South and Central American immigrants, but they in turn bleed our economy by sending their money overseas instead of spending it here in America.
I've thought for some time that a transfer tax might help to stem some of the fiscal bleeding, but I'm not sure it would work as expected. I have to expect someone to find a way around the system sooner or later. But then again, maybe it would work after all.
In any case, this proposal out of Texas would tax transfers and use the money to pay for health care! Not just any health care, but that given to illegals, the uninsured, and others who can't/won't pay for themselves. This is something that I cannot and will not support.
Some will call me a heartless, soulless <insert expletive here>, but I believe in paying for yourself. Furthermore, I believe in kicking out all illegals, whether they need healthcare or not. Please excuse me to favoring those who take the time and make the effort to obey our laws and enter legally. I can't understand why they suffer while criminals get yet another handout.
