Just read this article. Kind of interesting. Worst case scenario 80 million people could die off and this isn't going to be the worst of it. Can't these people learn that by having sex and having more and more kids they're just spreading this disease?
In other news, the AIDS rate doubles among blacks in the US. No surprise here...
I was kinda surrised though on the 80 million people dying off. I mean, i know that theres alot of HIV/AIDs over there, but this is pretty bad. and yet people have a cow when a hundred thousand people are killed by some big wave in indonesia..[X(]

Wanna take a poll ? Ask a moderator to start a poll on how many unmarried people have had unprotected sex in the past 12 months. You'd be stunned I bet at the poll results if people were being honest.
Thing is .......... AIDS scared the hell out of people in the late 80's when Magic came out and in the early 90's. Then ? There is no cure but plenty of drugs for it and people live a long time with the HIV virus. Its not something people seems to be scared of anymore.

You know thats a very good point.
but you would think the people that have had some one they know die of it would be scared to "death" {no pun intended}. of it
I will tell you i never realy worryed about it. Untill i had a hospital death watch.
That was being scurity for a inmate at the hospital that was in his last deying days of the dease.
man thats a bad way to go and it scared me *&*& less.

Take a poll to see how many AIDS infected men rape 12 year old virgin girls in an attempt to cure their disease, I'm betting you won't find a single person in North America, then take the same poll in Africa.

Now you hit the nail on the head. The headline of this post would be more accurate if it read; 80 million in Africa dead by 2025 due to illiteracy, superstition and corruption. While AIDS may well be the actual cause of death, the root cause is deeply seated in the lifestyle of todays African natives. While colonialism was a blight on Africa for several hundred years, the chaos created by the demise of colonialism has killed far more people than it has helped. The U.N., joke that it is, hasn't helped a bit and they should have been the leaders in transitioning these states into a modern society.
Considering the rate at which the disease is spreading there ,
coupled with the high rate of new cases , I'd call that 80 million estimate not only conservative but wishful thinking . Africans still live in a tribal culture rife with superstion and a total lack of acceptance of modern ways , so it's no surprise to me that they're infested with disease . Sometimes the gene pool needs a shot of chlorine , I've been over there once , I don't feel sorry for them at all .

In Africa AIDS spread like ya'll have already pointed out.
But in the USA ? Why does it even exist here ? With the exceptions of a very few blood tranfusions etc, it should be non-existant.
Absolutley NO unprotected sex and being careful with your partners. Yet no one does it do they ? Why ? Looking back I wasn't a very premiscuious young man. But I know of 4 instances where I had sexual encounters that went careless and any one of them could have resulted in me getting AIDS. Why didn't I take precautions ? Stupidity and a nothing can beat me youth attitude ? Certainly wasn't a lack of education.

You really nailed this one, Coastie.
However, I have one more thing to add. While these are the technical causes of the potential pandemic, let's not forgot the basic human drive for sex. When you get all "excited" and those hormones start flooding your brain, the area that moderates risky behaviors is basically short circuited. While it is possible to overcome this lack of judgement, it certainly isn't convenient to do so (especially when you've got a girl right in front of you). This exists in every culture, and it's one reason we have AIDS here to the extent is exists.

So you were fortunate enough to be born in a modern country, had an opportunity to be educated and have access to some of the best medical care in the world. You grew up in a society that taught you that science not superstition was the way to a better life. You got all that by CHANCE not because of anything you ever did in your entire life. You simply drew a better hand then did any of the millions of children in africa. And yet you have the nerve to talk of them with such contempt. Let them eat cake, right? What a spoiled and disgusting attitude.
