Politics Nothing goes with politics quite like crying and complaining, and we're a perfect example of that.

Default Chris Rock vs. Whitehouse Question

On the Monday morning news, they reported on Chris Rock bashing Bush and they said that the Whitehouse responded. I had to leave for work so I missed the piece. What did the Whitehouse say? I know what Rock said and thought it was stupid.

The white house said "we leave it to Hollywood to determine oscar monologues."

That was the extent of the White House comment. More or less "It ain't our business."

Yes, Chris Rock's comments were catty and sophmoric. At the same time, this is pretty standard stuff.

My hope is that in time many Democrats will have to eat humble pie -- and worse -- on the entirety of Bush's foreign policy. Imagine how they will be made to pay in the next election cycles if (1) Iran settles down as a democratically governed state and a friend to the US and other nations, (2) Lebanon casts off Syrian occupation and becomes a legitimate, free democratic nation, (3) democratic reforms progress in Egypt and Saudi Arabia and perhaps other countries, and (4) Iran has been dealt with ((a) Israeli air strikes blow up the nuke sites, (b) US air strikes blow up the nuke sites, (c) Iran backs down relative to the nuke sites)? What kind of hay can the Republicans make out of blinding success in Middle Eastern policy? Maybe it won't happen this way, but it sure looks better than what the Democrats and the media were telling us all along. I think the Democrats painted the disaster scenario too starkly and this leaves them exposed if things go well.

???

Considering how much garbage Bush has put up with since 2000, I dare say the Whitehouse has remained extremely cool and collected.

I don't remember any presidents in recent history not being made fun of it, whether it be democrat or republican.

Chris Rock: "Gap employees bleeding all over the khakis..."

Hollywood Liberals: "laughter"

That's really nice. I'm sure family members of fallen soldiers enjoyed Rock's wit.

ditto. Bush hasn't just been roundedly criticized and made fun of by the standard liberals on the left, but by almost everyone, including a lot of conservatives on this board. He gets the full support of just a minority in the Republican Party. Even foreign politicians have let loose. I've barely heard the White House say a word in response. I'd tell some of these people to "*#%^*# OFF!!"
