Politics Nothing goes with politics quite like crying and complaining, and we're a perfect example of that.

Default Pet Fur Industry

Ex-Beatle's Wife Calls for Pet Fur Trade Ban

Now I've had just about enough of the McCartney's and their animal rights crusade, but this article made me stop and think for a second.

I don't care what Europe does, really, but should America allow dog and cat fur clothing if there were a demand? I view those kinds of domesticated animals more or less as "companions", not livestock. I for one am a big baby when it comes to dogs, and even cats to a lesser extent. If anyone tried to wear my Diamond Dog, there'd be hell to pay. I wouldn't support pet fur in any way, and I'd probably work against it through whatever legal means I could. I suppose it's a cultural thing.

Thoughts?

Actually alot of people wear it now and don't even realize it. They did a study at some coat outlets where they tested the animal fur that lined the hoods on alot of the coats. Turns out a good number of them were dog fur. I couldn't believe it.

I think you are correct. I do not see it catching on in the states.

Wolf, it's not really that people buy the coats because they know they are made from dogs and cats. It's just that they buy a coat they like that has a fur lined hood thinking it's fake which is what the label reads but after testing it turns out it's really dog. I have also seen countless furry cat statues that are actually imported from China that are made using real cat fur. It's amazing what people don't realize. I mean who puts a tag on a little cat statue saying what it's made of. People don't think anything of it, they just buy them.

What do you call an Ethiopian with 6 dogs ?
A rancher ...

I don't wear fur , nor do I care what other people wear . We get a little wound up about pets here , but the truth is there are plenty of places where Fluffy is little better than lunch . Dog is actually pretty tasty , yes I've had some . How many of you are wearing leather ? How about alligator shoes or snakeskin boots ? Anybody have a deer mount on the wall ?

Kinda hard to preach what you don't practice yourself . Think about it .

Cattle, alligators, snakes, and deer do not live with you, protect you, or love you unconditionally. Dogs and cats are in a higher order as far as I'm concerned.

I know folks who have made "pets" of every animal that you listed ,
they all love and protect them , but they still wear fur , leather , hides , and eat beef . They're animals Aught , that's why we're the people . We are the apex predator , and even a predator can derive pleasure from another animal , but that doesn't mean that they won't eat one just like it .

On a more personal note: You have pawprints on your back , don't you ?

My first reply stated that I don't wear fur nor care who does Ifferd ,
I just have a hard time anymore rationalizing feeding and caring about an animal that does little more than sleep all day and crap on the floor .

Don't get me wrong , I love dogs , BBQed mostly ...
