Bill would ban abortions of 'gay' fetuses

I have to wonder what Duprey's ultimate goal is here. He's strongly pro-life, anti-gay, so I guess that answers the question. But he sure is going about it in a strange way. I figure his political games are just his way of stirring the pot to get more focus. But I'm stilling scratching my head and trying to figure how it will work to his advantage. We've all learned that unity is better politically than division.

In any case, this kind of article seemed just right for a quiet day at HuntingNet.

He's actually trying to be protect babies that might be killed because of a certain gene or characteristic that the woman might find undesireable. Could be a Sex gene thing, or maybe red hair, or brown eyes .........

yea that's what he's doing.

But some lawmakers say Duprey is neither interested in creating new policy to protect gays and lesbians nor seriously discussing the issue of abortion. The bill, they say, is a way of forcing some lawmakers to choose between abortion rights and gay rights.

"It will be seen as some kind of political gamesmanship," said House Majority Leader Glenn Cummings, D-Portland.

Last month, Duprey drew attention to the issue of gay rights when he proposed a bill to legalize same-sex marriages even though opposing it himself.

1) There is no "gay gene", this has been soundly trounced in the past.

2) given #1, the only way you could prove that the fetus chose to be gay would be if he had a twin in there with him and he was buggering the hell out of it.

I think he's doing it to try to open the eyes of the gay community. The gay community is typcially left and pro-abortion. If the argument that gays are born with a homosexual gene (which I agree with) is scientifically true, then it may be possible in the future to identify it. Once it is identified, the existence of gays is threatened. If you believe in abortion, would you abort a gay baby? I think most people who believe that abortion is OK would.

That's BS! It hasn't been "soundly trounced" anymore than it's been soundly proven. The early research in the 90's was all but thrown out, but until we understand every aspect of human genetics, it's impossible to reach a scientific conclusion.

I think there absolutely is. I think it is genetic malformity. WHY would anyone "choose" that lifestyle? My parents and teachers could tell my bro was gay since he was in second grade. I think it is relatively easy to pick out the kids that will be.

I may be wrong, but I really don't think I am . . . .

The world is full of weirdos. I think some people like that knucklehead Ann Heche, do try out stupid stuff. They experiment with sex just as they would drugs. I think there is clearly a difference between her and "real" gays.
