I always thought they were "actresses"

Can't be though, Hillary Swank time and again refers to herself as an "actor". I noticed the past few days in pre-Oscar interviews and just now when she accepted the Best Actress award (go figure) . I like Swank, she's sexy, tough, beautiful, good at what she does ............ why does she insist on taking the "actor" instead of "actress "
