is this one turtle or two turtles ?
Two heads that appear equally attached/developed, one body. So is there one turtle, or two turtles, or one complete turtle with a parasitic head or ???????????
( AJ52 I am posting this in relation to the threads on what a human life consists of, a body, a mind, or both )

Just as an experiment, they should smother one of the heads and see what dies.

etothepii - which head would you choose to smother ?
I suspect the head would die, and rot, and cause enough infections to kill the body and the other head.

If they shared the same set of lungs, it wouldn't work.

There was a story in last nights paper about a kid(s) like this. He had a parasitic head attached to the top of his head. The only thing they shared was a major blood vessel, the other head was not alive, just a "lump" on top of this kids head. They said it is rare but is the result of identicle twins that don't seperate all the way during development.

I think those turtles are just newlyweds making ends meet. Probably search for a bigger place to live.

Explain why it wouldn't work ? One brain that controls the body works, doesn't it ? This thing has two brains, why wouldn't one or the other not work equally as well as two ?
Okay, how about this. If the left head decides to hold its breath, can the right one override that and go ahead and breath or does it have to hold its breath too ?
