Unless there are UN sanctions against Iran buying a reactor, then there is little we can do except wait for it to get nearly completed, the whack it with a few dozen cruise missles. If it constitutes a new threat level not posed by their current reactors.

Sanctions?! Please....
I'd like to knock all of them out right now, but I see where you're coming from.

Iran has several nuclear reactors already and I think they are a threat. Buying one more from Russia may not be an appreciable increase in the threat level posed by Iran.

Sure, but then again, two nukes are twice as bad as one. More plants means more uranium means more fissionable material.

We MUST try to be friends with Russia - we will need their help more and more in the future. The best way to defeat communism is to trade with it - isolating communist nations only helps their anti-western philosophy survive and fester.(ref. our Cuban policy).

I agree 100%, but considering that such countries have little interest in maintaining a friendly relationship, we must be prepared militarily as well. Just in case. The world sure does turn quickly these days.

An open trade policy with Cuba in the 70's or 80's could have only helped speed the demise of Castro's grip on the people.

Maybe so, but he's so unfriendly!
