This is a political and social forum where member discuss, debate and state points or opinions of a variety of social and political issues.
Besides this activity, what real political actives are you involved in during the course of a year?
Myself, I go to Madison WI our state capital and lobby on for my position on issues. Those include DNR matters, taxes, carry and conceal law and voter IDs a current matter in our state. I also take part in the campaigns of various political offices from Alderperson, Mayor and Governor. I have also worked on recall petitions, which were successful in replacing a number of local county board members.
On the National level in the past I have gone to DC for the NRA ( thats was a couple of years ago)and spend face to face time visiting with my Congressmen and Senator voicing my opinion. I also helped out locally on the presidential election.
I do attend the Town Hall style meetings on a local and state level and attend the annual Conservation meeting held at various locations in our state.
What do you do?

I write a lot of letters, send a lot of emails, and make a few phone calls here and there. That's about it. I suppose I'm a bit of a loner, because I really don't enjoy working with other people in politics.
I worked on a local campaign when I first moved to DC, but that was more opportunity than ideology. I learned a lot and had a some good times, but it wasn't in me. My beliefs don't seem to fit many candidates out there who make a serious effort to get elected, so it's hard to give it all I've got.
I gave about 25 years of my life to bettering my community straight up through to the Governor. I felt I accomplished alot during that time and am quite proud of all my accoumplishments - I did it for my kids.
I'm away from that now and looking for more peace and quiet and enjoying my grandchildren as much as I can.

Thanks to the Hatch Act, I am only allowed to contribute monitarily. Isn't it great that employees of the government cannot participate in it even on their own time?
I attend all meetings of all our local government bodies. I enjoy meeting and conversing with my state representative and state senator about 8 or 9 times a year. I usually meet and chat for a few minutes with my U.S. Rep about two or three times a year, and talk with my U.S. Senators on the phone once, maybe twice, a year, but meet with their representatives a lot more often.
I don't serve on any sort of political committee and have never worked on any campaign. Heck, I've only placed a political sign in my front yard on one occasion. I prefer to distance myself from the sleaze of politics as much as possible, but I'm very vocal when it comes to issues concerning hunting and gun ownership.

I've been on our Deputy sheriff's Association board of Directors for 8-10 years now and am currently the PAC Chairman. I've been a full voting member of our county level republican Central Committee for 2 years now. I attend several political events throughout the year in our county and other counties. I frequently work on or with multiple political campaigns and help with various campaign issues as they arise. I also speak with our county level Board of Supervisors about all manner of issues and our state senators and assemblymen, most of our governor candidates (no, not Arnold) and a few of our congressmen. Throughout the year, I get to speak with all of these politicians about labor issues, 2nd amendment issues, water rights, general plans and numerous other political issues as they arise.
So far, I have learned you build credibility and a working relationship with politicians just like everybody else. You have to spend the time and earn it. On the plus side, once you earn this credibility and political capital if you will, you can use it quite often and actually help change things politically. Although most people complain about the money and sleeze in politics, I can tell you there's a lot of just plain having established credibility with politicians that gets you quite far with political clout.

taking Studies to be a lawyer ,At this time we are learning how to legally lie. that should qualify me to converse with politicians on their level. And qualify me to run for a office
I bitch a lot but apparently to little effect. Letters and emails to politicians and community leaders. Personal meetings with the local pols. Donations to various organizations that I hope will make a difference.
