RE: Difference between Bush and Demo's?
I hear that the new Attorney General, Gonzales, supports the reinstatement of the AWB also. That twists my pickle, though I do not own an "assault weapon" and have no desire to. It seems like some Republicans take up just enough of the conservative cause to get conservative buy in and then lean further left to get more votes. Frankly, I don't mind them collecting these middle voters, but I don't like compromise on some of these issues -- such as creating entirely new entitlements, expanding the role of government, limiting "assault weapons." By the way, I guess part of the issue is just in how you define "assault weapons," as it seemed one version of the "new and improved" AWB called for any weapon used by the military or police departments as de facto assault weapons, and this was liable to include various traditional hunting shotguns and rifles, as I understood it. Thankfully AWB went down.
