Thought you would be interested in this issue. Lead toxicity from bullets is an issue that might become another tool for anti's to ban hunting or greatly reduce access to hunting areas.
SAN DIEGO - The state Fish and Game Commission on Friday rejected two proposals to ban lead ammunition, with members saying they were unconvinced by studies indicating the highly endangered California condors are widely being exposed to the toxic metal when they feed on animals shot by hunters. http://www.montereyherald.com/mld/mo...printstory.jsp

It's actually a tribute to Kookafornia hunters seeing as how condors are mostly carion eaters. So when a hunter there kills something, he removes the carcass!
I believe that lead toxicity in California Condors has decreased significantly in recent years because hunters are now removing the entire carcass, not just the edible or trophy parts of game they take. I think the Fish and Game Commission's favorable decision on this issue was recognition of the coopertion and efforts of California hunters to help preserve the condors. It is unfortunate that the general public does not seem to understand that no one has a greater committment to protecting the natural environment than hunters.
Yet another thinly disguised attempt to restrict hunting ,
extinction is natural too , that which does not adapt does not survive . It seems strange that only the condors are being affected , doesn't it ? Doesn't Kookifornia have more than one type of carrion eating bird or other animals ?
