Politics Nothing goes with politics quite like crying and complaining, and we're a perfect example of that.

Default Speaking of the ACLU...

I contacted them once, but I guess they thought I had no case:

Here in Ohio, you can be chosen at random to prove that you have auto insurance. You have so many days to comply. If you don't have insurance, or if you do, but don't prove it, you are fined.

To me, that sounds like presumption of guilt, until you prove yourself not guilty. Due process seems to be ignored as well.

I emailed them (ACLU) about this, but never heard from them. Why? Am I way off on my feelings about this practice by the state of Ohio, or was I just not enough of a poster child for some liberal action item?

They probably snuck it in under the 4th Amendment provisions. Just like the "random drunk driving" checkpoints.

There are a couple problems with your case.

1. Your probably normal. Look normal, act normal, etc. Nothing to draw extra media attention.
2. Your request was logical, so no big contraversy for big-time free publicity.

Your not enough of a poster-child to ever get consideration.

Also, I think Ohio can get away with it because they issue your driver's license. You have to agree to a lot of things to get a license.
