Perhaps you are right but that's how I got started in Radio Engineering. Granted it is not Engineering at the same level as what you do,

It more than likely is. All the mathematics, the physics etc. means nothing in industry. You have to be able to USE it.
If you're a ham freak that builds your own stuff, you have more experience than 90% of the engineers that are lied to about how their careers will "grow".
As a matter of fact, my Alma Mater sent out a newletter the other day which said that the "shortage of engineers is critical" -- BULLSH*T. They're trying to bolster their student ranks to get more money so some other poor schlub who thinks he's going to continue to learn will drop his $60,000 and end up at Wal Mart. I sent them a letter that i'm sure they have hung up in some men's room somewhere.
It's sad. Alot of drive and talent is being diverted. I'm just venting.
I don't give a rats arse about my career, I could be happy being a cashier at K-mart. I just wish that ONCE some company would actually have the foresight to realize that someone with brains that is willing to work, as long as they're not treated like dog dirt (thats a tricky one), could be their "diamond bullet".
Oh well, enough of my pontificating.
