Politics Nothing goes with politics quite like crying and complaining, and we're a perfect example of that.

Default Inauguration Speech

So, what you think? Seems to me that Bush is saying that the world needs to change its beliefs on governments and the governed. I have to say I felt like I was listening to history in the making. Bush made a lot of parallels between past slavery and modern tyranny. Of course they are one in the same in many aspects, but we put an end to one over a hundred years ago, while the other remains strong to this day.

It's also easy to compare Bush and Lincoln. Notice that he used a quote from Abe (first time, I believe). Both men were loved or hated by half of the nation, respectively. They also went up against tremendous odds because of their deepest beliefs. Of course Lincoln prevailed and set a precedent that remains today. Slavery is no longer tolerated by the mainstream anywhere in the world. I'm eager to see if Bush can start to accomplish the same kind of shift in thinking about dictatorships.

Also, what do you think about Bush's comparison of Judaism, Christianity, and Islam? I can imagine a lot of people took offense to that.

Allow me to put my tin hat on for a moment.....

While I support our President (to a point mind you), I believe there are several layers within his agenda and the factors driving the world at this point in time - things we won't or are not supposed to know about. History in the making? You bet.

He said, in essence, that some of our domestic problems are caused by issues in other countries. The most important issue for most people is terrorism. I think it's fair to say that it is not a home-grown problem.

It's easy to throw such a cliche around, but you don't back it up. For instance, you complained about the inauguration costs. Yet outside of public security and infrastructure, the festivities were funded privately.

If you want to complain about his spending, why don't you give some specific suggestions on more worthy issues. And I mean specific with a capital S. Don't just complain; improve as well.

He said nothing of spending money on third world countries. He spoke of defeating tyrannical dictatorships.
