BAGHDAD, Iraq - Iraqi officials announced Tuesday that they will seal the nation's borders, extend a nighttime curfew and restrict movement inside the country to protect voters during the Jan. 30 vote, which insurgents are seeking to ruin with a campaign of violence.
Uh huh, if they are able to seal the borders for an election, can't they seal the borders the rest of the time?

It takes men. I'll bet personnel are being pulled from other duties to act as the border patrol. As much as I love our guys over there, I don't think they're going to be able to "seal" the borders. Lets hope there are plenty of unmanned drones doing most of the surveillance out there.
Actually, "sealing" the borders could make them free fire zones which would discourage quite a bit of night time traffic and enable forces to concentrate on the few criminals who are crossing illegally. Make it a lot safer too for deterring people wearing boobytraps on their person.

Please forgive me for my juvenile outburst, but would be frickin' awesome! Illegal border crossings (whether here or there) are one of the few issues for which I've adopted a zero-tolerance belief system.

Glad to help Aught six.

Why seal them in Iraq for security, and do not continue to seal them in the states?
