Security precautions cost over $17 million alone. I'm willing to say that security isn't something we should be cheap about.
It would be nice for everyone to agree who deserves what money, but you and I both know that Washington is like a wrestling cage. Pulling, shoving, kicking, screaming, etc. The economy is on the rise, and the deficit is going down. The inauguration is already in motion, and it's too late to do much now. Lobbying Congress to increas the VA budget is the thing to do.
Amen to that. I would like to see more legislators step up to the plate and take care of those who took care of us. I'm not happy that the military gets pushed aside for a lot of other causes, as I feel that they always have been and always will be necessary to defend against nutjobs. Until (if) Congress ever takes the military as seriously as our forces take their duties, all I can say is try and donate to private veterans' groups. The Fisher House is one that I gladly gave some of my extra money to.
They announced on tv that the inauguration is going to cost around 50-60 million. He is already in,why do we have to go through the BS of seeing him sworn in all over again. He hasn't stepped down.
10 million is peanuts compared to what the vets have given us-once had an economist tell me that the best bargain in the world is the freedom bought and protected by our armed forces-did my time in Nam and came away unscathed after a hard year in the bush-I agree with the posts here we need to get more done for those guys that need it.

Yep, much of it privately funded.

He's a contractor. We just renewed his contract, and he has to sign for it. Maybe we should blame Washington for creating such a silly precedent. Swearing in, what was he thinking?!

That's right, this isn't a dictatorship. The people decide when it's time to go.

RE: 10 million going to the V.A.

That was kinda my point. Could it not be scaled down to a more intimate affair costing less. Its going to be seen by billions, whether it is with three people involved or millions. Think what an extra 20 or 30 million could do for our vets.
