BUSH:SS ON THE ROAD TO BANKRUPTCY

Isn't this a great situation for Americans.We have 350 million dollars for tsunami victims but won't have SS for Americans that put into it all their lives.When will the Americans finally realize that bailing everybody else out has to stop?I say that time is now.

Social Security is a pay as you go sytem. The younger generation pays the checks of those who are currently retired. However, those of us who will be retiring in the not too distant future will face a problem because there are fewer younger people to pay into the system. Why are there fewer people? One of the reasons is abortion. We have said nothing while 45-50 million babies have been murdered. How can the populace and the politicos be so dumb? Small wonder that Social Security won't be there..we've been butchering the small wonders by the millions! Our selfishness and ambivalence are catching up with us. We have no one to blame but ourselves.

The population is much higher now than it was in the past.I feel that I could never have a child of mine aborted,but in some cases,it may be better for even the child.I think that the govt. dipping into funds from SS is to blame for the problem more than anything else.

Clint, your logic about this is about as flawed as the foundation of the leaning tower of Pisa. In case you haven't noticed the population of the United States is expanding faster than we can build houses. As is the rest of the world.

If you would research stuff like what you said before you opened your mouth about it you would learn that in the US there is a birth every 8 seconds, a death every 13 seconds, an immigrant every 26 seconds resulting in a gain of one person every 12 seconds. Seems to me that the births are out numbering the deaths by a margin of 61%. So looking at the data there are more than enough young workers to pay for the elderly's social security.

SS won't be there in the future because our government spends our money on what ever it can with little regard of cost effectiveness, debt, who actually needs it (AMERICANS), if we actually care what is done with it, etc... etc...

sorry clint--that argument is ridiculous
I'm not saying that I'm for cutting off foreign aid. I am saying that government should realize that just because there's more checks in checkbook doesn't mean there's more money in the bank--This administration is particularly unaware of that fact.

There are many more workers paying the social security of each retiree today than there will be in the future. Check your stats boys and get the facts straight. You are partly corect in some of your assessment though. The SSI welfare checks being given to some drug users and vagrants ought to stop. Social Security was never meant as welfare.

Absolutely right about SS and welfare. IMO welfare should be all but eleminated. That would be a huge chunk of change for our hard working, retired, elderly folks that actually need their SS to live on.
