Not Pretty In Pink
Arizona sheriff adds flamboyant handcuffs to his collection
JANUARY 14--The Arizona sheriff who makes inmates wear pink boxer shorts and sleep on pink bed sheets has introduced a new item in his girlish inventory: fluorescent pink handcuffs. Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio's deputies will place the new pink cuffs on inmates during transport. The controversial Arpaio--who never misses a chance to degrade prisoners--claims that he actually ordered 1000 sets of the pink restraints as part of an inventory control plan. Since his department's standard silver handcuffs were frequently getting pinched by Maricopa deputies and other cops, Arpaio reasoned, pink ones would be easier for him to track. Below you'll find a photo of the pink handcuffs, which was provided to us by Arpaio's office. (1 page)
When i took the jail certification course i saw the video that he put out, obsolutely hilarious......
every prison/ jail should do that, the scum of the earth already have to many rights as it is.
Aside from degrading the incarcerated, pink can also potentially reduce aggression. Studies have been underway for decades and the results indicate that exposure to certain shades of pink can calm those exposed.
Every one allways is saying the rights of the prisoners is not looked in to enough. I say you loose all rights when you go to prison. My cousin went to prison for 15 years over drugs. He was given many many chances and wasted every one. The only way he figgered out that he can not do this is from prison.
Strangely enough, and not prison related mind you, but the former coach of the Iowa Hawkeyes had the visitors locker room painted pink after reading those studies many years ago. So some people really buy into it.
