Messed up or not, a parent still has authority over the child. If a person can't handle that authority, then he/she has no business parenting. I really don't understand what the issue is. As many hours as my father worked, he still had enough time to look through my room when I wasn't home, chat with my principal on a regular basis, and ask me what's going on in my life. I was never able to hide anything from him. I wasn't a violent kid, but I was a definitely mischevious. I credit dad single-handedly with keeping me out of juvy.
Where are the others like him?
